Or change them to suit your style. I use spacebar for weapons, i think the default is tab?

My secondary weapons are set to W to select them, Q to fire them. My primary weapons are set to Z, because I have developed a habit of pressing Z, from games like Grand Chase and Elsword. (the former game is dead now, sad.)

Yeah, tab is the default for primary fire.

You might want to read the player's manual and FAQ because some useful controls just aren't even hinted in the game and can only be found in the FAQ. Just a few actually like shift, alt and tab multipliers, I think someone is making some FAQ about some newer UI controls(like shift and control for selecting multiple ships, deselecting all ships to buy into cargo, collapsible lists, and others) but I'm not so sure. Hopefully the extended starting tutorial makers add some hints within the game about those controls.

The multipliers are Ctrl, Alt and SHIFT.
The (I) menu is very useful.

Yup. I have all the combat keys on the left side of my keyboard so I can fight with one hand on the keyboard and one on my mouse without having to move either. Then all the navigational stuff that doesn't really matter for combat is on the right side of my keyboard.
