Endless Sky

Very Powerful Pug Ship
So I've been fighting the Pug for sometime on their homeworld, and everytime now they spawn an insanely powerful pug-ship (the Akk-Eak Eek) that can one-shot any of the ships in my fleet. I was wondering if anyone had any tips for beating it, so that I can get more jump-drives without having to fight the Korath for them.

Either you're gonna need a lot of shield beetles fitted with ion cannons and flamethrowers, or just farm the Korath from now on.

@edit: ninja'd by Derpy.. grr :P

The point of the Arfecta is to discourage you from taking from the Pug. The Pug are relatively forgiving, but when they deploy the Arfecta, you know you've crossed the line. The Arfecta is a tier 3 ship, so without a number of t2 ships or a whole armada of t1s then you won't be taking it anytime soon. Best to start farming the Korath- the Raider is only t2, and if killing one is difficult, you won't be having the Arfecta anytime soon.

There's actually been a discussion going on on github about that. (Spoiler tagging for O.P.'s sake) I think it's more T1 than T2. The outfits are T2 but the ship itself is built more like a T1 heavy warship. So really, the Raider itself is more of a T1.5.

Also thats not the Pug homeworld your fighting over.

Vara Pug is more of a base of operations for the purpose of watching over and controlling the Wanderers. I don't believe that they have a legitimate home world, or at least not one that still exists/is even in this galaxy.

(On my phone, so will be using ambiguous terms instead of spoiler tags for OP's sake) Also, the Raider is, yeah, arguably a t1.5 warship. It doesn't even compare with Mereti 32s. My Bactrian with t2 weapons and reconciliation tech can shred a Raider, no problem. I'd say that the Korath are more in line with the Hai, as opposed to other t2 races. The Raider is about even with the Shield Beetle, give or take some soft stats (outfit space, heat dissipation, etc). 1.5 sounds about right.

Speaking of tiers, the Hai are definitely at around 1.5, as opposed to the 1.1 that many say it i. Tiers are designed such that tier 1 heavy warships are around tier 2 lights's level. The lightning bug has 6k shields, whereas a human medium has 6k. So instead of heavy t1 to light t2, we have medium t1 to light Hai. I'd say that's firmly in the tier 1.5 range.

Well then we need to make the distinction between outfits and ships. Like I said for the raider, it's practically a T1 heavy warship, it just has T2 outfits. Now for the Hai, their outfits are absolutely T1.1 ish (which is what I use to refer to the Hai as T1.1), but their ships are better when compared to human ships of the same category, so you could say that their ships are something other than T1.1.

I am so sorry. My brain went a bit derpy!
Fixed it now.
Thair homeworld is in another galexy. The optinal Quarg mission after visiting Pugglemug tells you that.

I find the ideal response to the Arfecta is the same as to everything else, more skylances.

And then making it your flagship once you've capped it.

The first thing I did once I captured the Arfecta and made it my flagship was to ditch the rest of my fleet conquer every planet in human space with the Arfecta alone.
It's like crushing ants.

I believe the general issue is that the raider comes from before they made the automatons. When they started making automated war ships, they probably stopped advancing their own ship designs while countining to make weapons. Fast-forward a couple hundred/thousand years, and the automaton ships and weapons advanced even faster than the korath could(by about half a tier). On the flipside... those raiders have F***ING JUMP DRIVES. Like seriously, how do you learn to make a jump drive but not a better ship? It'd be like humans learning to make jump drives and just sticking them on cruisers and calling it good.

The Raiders have Intrusion Countermeasures, stolen from the Quarg. Therefore, logic states that they stole the Jump Drives from the Quarg too.
