1. Build a large fleet with nothing but lasers and try to kill a quarg ship, then loot its jump drive. This is probably the most reasonable approach, though it will be expensive with lost ships. But you do get a set of skylances, making any furture fights a peice of cake. Afterwards just farm the same ships I mention in number 2.
They are found in the far southeast mostly, just southeast of tarzed. The bigger black ship(whose name eludes me), and the smaller yellow wardragon are what you are looking for.
2. Be exceedingly lucky and have a Korath Raider ship appear at one of the sydicate worlds near those southernmost 6-7 jumpdrive-only systems just east of their space. This has happened to me only twice though.
3. Edit one into your inventory. I don't get into this kind of stuff, mostly because I will screw it up even with step-by-step instructions lol. So you'd have to ask someone else how.
If you wanted to get Jump Drives right now, then go to the eastern part of your map in Syndicate space and make sure to bring a few heavy warships. You've probably noticed those unreachable systems in the core area. Those are occupied by a race known as the Korath, which will occasionally send Raiders into Syndicate space fitted with Jump Drives. So if you stay in the eastern most systems close to the core for a while, these Raiders will eventually spawn. You can disable and plunder them for their Jump Drives, among other things.
Edit: RIP Dust 514
Edit: Thanks.
Sorry, I keep forgetting to do that, most forums I use don't have it, and I kind of forgot it was a secret.
Also, hopefully Nova will work out, even though this potato likely wont be able to run it.
This is a story driven game, it is highly recommended that you get the jump drive by means of the story. It will help you obtain other technology that will, in turn, help you be better prepared for what you find outside of human space.
That said, yea, it is very possible to catch and farm korath raiders - as others have stated.
I mean, standard disclaimer ♥♥♥♥, dont want newbs who are lurking to think its a good idea to skip the story.
I already have 8 shield beetles and 300 mil in money >.> think i have more then anything the story could offer :D
And even in that next story there is something that you'll really want unlocked, unless you're already playing endless skylance.
Y'all forgetting some stuff.

Sort of. You have to take one from the Pug in checkmate.
