Is there a Mod for Faster than 2x speed for the game?
Cause hoo boy, grinding would be made WAY easier if I could speed things along.

Or, if there is some way to speed up the game without mods, that'll work too. Really anything to speed up time by more than it normally is.

Give the CapsLock key a try.

i think you can even modify the caps lock key to go even faster than it usually does,
text doc modification, right?

afaik it's hardcoded to 3x.

some tips... the capslock speedup is important, but it is equally or more important to have your ship move efficiently. Lots of extra fuel, reverse thrust, no scram drive (messes with reverse thrust), and a decent but not overwhelming turn rate.
if your reverse thrust and engines are about equal, then 80-100 turn rate is about enough to not flip around to slow on most turns, allowing you to warp, slow, turn, repeat instead of warp, flip, slow, turn, repeat. the scram drive lets warp when moving at a decent pace, but it does weird turn&burns and still flips around too much. I haven't been able to get a scram drive to deliver a good outcome since many versions ago.

jobbing is relaxing, as is asteroid chasing, but after you get established nothing is as efficient as capturing ships to sell.

Yeah, I know about the capslock, I'm talking stuff like 10x speeed.
See I'm trying to grind capturing a korath worldship, and have a dredger with itsie bitsie coalition engines and its moving extremely slow.

Ah. I can't imagine that 1 extra bunk module is make it or break it on your hunt: maybe throw 2 afterburners on it? Otherwise you are left to dig in the code to change the effect of caps lock.

There's no mod or ingame feature that would let you go faster than 3x.

If you really want to dig deep, you can change the code and compile the game yourself. Be warned, compiling on Windows is a righteous pain in the ass. The code you want to change is this line[github.com], the 3 at the end is the factor by which capslock speeds up. And obviously, all of this is on your own risk.

Also its more like i need to get to close to 600 bunks, and every person counts near that point.

guess at this point its just a waitin game. Big sad. Thanks either way, I'll probably try and learn how to compile the game myself then, AFTER I've given up on this.

Please please please sacrifice the 9-10 extra tons for either the Remnant Anvil Engines or a reverse Coalition thruster. Having to spend 30 years slowly slowly turning around to come to a stop is not worth the 2 extra crew.

Fair enough, I just prefer to have my odds higher than lower.

Did they change the Dredger? I thought it was fairly easy to get to 600+ crew on one, but now I can only barely get up to 597

Hmm. I will see if I can make a crewship setup and post a screenie. I haven't done this in some time.
I don't recall the old numbers, but yes, a functional ship can't quite reach 600.
Here is my slightly more than functional take on it with a little more steering & speed. You can probably get around 30 deg/sec turn if you want to re-arrange it, like remove the ramscoop & 1 afterburner (puts you at 60 speed though).

do the fighter populations add to your attack crew? If they do, you can get over 20 more.

notes: if you have unlocked it, the remnant bellows afterburner is 7 space for > 500 speed !!!

Hmm. While I was at it I did go cap a worldship. And now I remember why I don't do that. It lacks a JD, so you can't get it out of the area its in, making it a pain to get one that you can actually use unless you want to bother friendlies. And its a junker; you would think after the fight that it would have like 150k shields or something 'big'. Its fun to do it once, but I don't get it. Is there anything useful about it, beyond being a slightly bigger crewship that can capture (something else??).

I still haven't nabbed one, and want to do it, plus with the big crew it'll make it easier to nab wardragons (presumably).
Also I've been jumping to the three systems next to Misam, which has worldships that have jumpdrives, but with crew of over 600 min (smallest crew I saw with a jumpdrive was 624)

Faster turn is def better to have, even with lesser speed, and you still get that 597 crew.
I'd have to test out with fighter crew, but I don't think that actually adds to the crew that invades a ship.
jonnin Dec 2, 2022 @ 5:39am
Yea, the no JD ones had 350 crew or so, so that makes sense.
Good luck!
