[GUIDE] How to get and install Plugins
You can download plugins directly at
http://endless-sky.github.io/plugins.html

Installing plugins:

Navigate to
C:\Users\[USER]\AppData\Roaming\endless-sky\plugins

and put in a folder with the name of your plugin. The folder should contain a 'data' and/or 'image' folder with the modified files.

Do not install plugin files in the main game folder otherwise you must re-install the game to uninstall a mod, whereas to deactivate a mod simply remove the plugin from the location above.

Some plugins may not be compatible each other, so if you encounter problems with a specific plugin, remove other plugins from the folder above before running Endless Sky.
Advanced gamers can use Jonesoft's Mod Enabler to manage Plugins.

I wonder if this should be pinned or not in the mod section or do we already have one?

The mods section already has a explanation to how to install plugins and where to find them.

Your FAQ says it's impossible to get them here because of Steam agreement terms, but whatsoever, I found it useful to add the method here...I hope you don't get angry because of it...

What? Are you talking about workshop support? The mods sections of this forum lists the method to install plugins that you've listed here, but I am aware that the game can't have workshop support for easy installation of plugins through Steam.

I mean this (from the 'Official FAQ'):

---------------
Is there Workshop support for modding? No, because the Steam libraries are not compatible with the GPL license that the game is released under. I will eventually be working on making the plugin system more usable, though, including having it automatically pull a list of available plugins from a server and letting you install those plugins in-game.
---------------

I think my guide above is a bit better than that :)

Have you checked the mods section of this forum? The guidelines thread explains how plugins are installed in detail.

How do I download a mod?
Downloading mods is simple. There are two ways of doing this, and only one must be done to successfully download a mod.

The first (and recommended way) requires you to find an already existing plugins folder that is in a different location than the rest of the Endless Sky files. That folder can be found here:
  • Linux: ~/.local/share/endless-sky/
  • Windows: C:\Users\[Your user name here]\AppData\Roaming\endless-sky\
  • Mac OS X: ~/Library/ApplicationSupport/endless-sky/
The second way involves creating a new plugins folder within the Steam Endless Sky files:
  • Locate your Endless Sky files. These can be located by navigating through your Steam library. Right click Endless Sky, go to "properties," go to "local files," then click "browse local files." This should open up the Endless Sky files on your computer.
  • Create a new folder within the Endless Sky folder. This folder should be named "Plugins."
It may be wise to have a desktop shortcut to these locations if you wish to install more mods later.
Once you have either located the plugins folder or created your own, find whatever mod you want, download the given folder, and place it into the plugins folder.
No other form of installation is needed. At this point, simply run Endless Sky and play, and the changes that the mod brings will be applied to your game automatically.

No of course, I have taken out while checking if my proposed method is really feasable . Sorry for the confusion, the content is now back again (without changes).
