Maximum Bunks/Cargo Builds
These are not the absolute maximum that can be attained, but I think are close to optimal and usable (i.e. not completely useless engines etc.).

It uses only ships that can be bought (excluding Korath captures for example) and outfits that can be bought/plundered. I decided on Jump Drives - as then the engine speed matters less once the first jump is sorted! I also wanted some kind of ramscoop capability and decent range.

The max bunks ship (for transport missions) is based on a Bactrian with this outfit setup:

outfits "Bunk Room" 52 "Crucible-Class Thruster" "Jump Drive" "Ka'het MHD Generator" "Outfits Expansion" 26 "Type 2 Radiant Steering" "Wanderer Ramscoop"

It gives a total of 383 usable bunks. I chose not to use the small bunk room at all and so was able to upgrade the engines a bit.,


The max cargo ship is based on the Deep River with this outfit setup:

outfits `"Basrem" Atomic Steering` "Cargo Expansion" 14 "Fuel Processor" "Jump Drive" "Ka'het MHD Generator" "Thruster (Asteroid Class)"

It gives a total of 1350 cargo.

well technically that isn't the BEST cargo outfit, considering you use those large thrusters, if you are truly going for just maximum cargo space with minimum space used for outfits, you could just use those weird thruster steering combinations, the ridiculously low power tiny ones, it would be very slow, but technically better.

I put in the Baellie combo first but then found I had a few tonnes space available so upgraded to fill the space. The thrusters I used are hardly large! The deep rivers are slooow. I might have squeezed a couple more bunks or tonnes cargo space. Not graining they’re absolutely max since I used ramscoop a and fuel processors which are not strictly required. I also ensured power gen exceeds engine requirements.

It’s fun fiddling with things like this though😄

It is, I spend a considerable amount of time experimenting with ship builds.
My Dredger carries a crew of 435 and still has 605 tons of cargo space I can get the crew much higher but that's a good number and I like having the cargo space.. I cart a bit of everything to my outfit planet, Glaze, for build experiments.
