[Spoiler] Emerald Sword quest line

As far as I understand, the new update includes an extension to the Rim archeology missions, so that one can discover a new, unique ship. However, despite completing the FW campaign, the Deep quest line, and the previous Rim archeology missions (up to and including the battle to defend the dig, and the bit where the player is told they are on the news sometime later), the Emerald Sword quest line is failing to trigger. Am I missing something? Any assistance would be appreciated.

I have checked the code briefly, and it seems that it is available after done There Might be Riots 3. The part 2 is available when you did the part 1 and Deep Archaeology 5 and the part 3 is available after then.

I think there's another bit you're missing, if I read you right: If "player told they're on the news" means news at the Sheragi being discovered, the prerequisites for the next mission are:

- had that news of Foster's publication
- completed main story (FW campaign)
- this one you may be missing? had contact with Unfettered Hai
- somewhere within human space? within some large distance from Zubeneschamali/Zug, the system in question
- random chance of it being offered each time you land (if the above satisfied). Literally "random < 4" (means 4% chance of triggering? i.e. 1/25?)

I think DroopingPuppy might be reading the source for an earlier mission in the chain that you've already done.

The file and mission are:
data/sheragi/archaeology missions.txt ; mission "Sheragi Archaeology: The Box 1"

FWIW, at the very end, once you know where it is, you also need transport space for 150 passengers(as well as an extra jump drive). Just because it might come as a bit of a surprise/possibly last minute expense, if you're trying to do the quest 'solo'.

I had all of those satisfied. It did end up triggering, it just took a long time to do so. I have the ship now and everything. I suppose RNGesus decided that I was going to have to wait. Thanks, though!

I hate the RNG and it hates me right back. I have every prerequisite done. I'm stuck waiting for this mission right now, landing on planets throughout human space, hoping for an RNG miracle while I blow little pirates out of the sky & capture/sell the big ones. I'm trying not to cheat (beyond looking at a guide now & then obviously) but I'm really tempted to edit the .txt file to force this mission to appear.

Its very frustrating, you have RNG, hidden unrelated quest chains, and 'you have to know the answer' quest lines all jumbled together. I am deep in my current game and nothing i do will trigger the stupid riots line. Ive done FW, relocated the birds, all the robotic stuff thru the pirates, and more. Still no band.

Ironically, right after I posted this I got the quest while messing around doing random missions. The RNG must have "heard" me. As for the riots line, can you be 100% certain you didn't accidentally decline it earlier in the game? I did that once, look up how to check (I'm not good with writing directions) and fix it if necessary.

yes, I am sure, but I lost track of the archaeology line. I will probably just start over, the only things I have not done are starting to be sort of pointless.

Check through this guide if anyone is having trouble. There are log entries you can check to see if you still need to complete a pre-requisite or not.
