What ship(s) do you currently have? You might be getting attacked a lot because you have too much cargo space and not enough weapons. You can check your current pirate attraction by going to the player info panel (default i) and checking the left side. There you'll see if you're attracting pirates because of your cargo vs dps. If this is the case then you should buy some stronger weapons and have less cargo space in your fleet by either parking ships with lots of cargo, or if you only have one ship then you could either buy a ship with more weapons and less cargo or but outfits expansions to get rid of some of your cargo space.
You could also be getting attack because of the jobs you have. Are you taking a bunch of escort jobs from the jobs board? Those will spawn pirates to come attack you, so you shouldn't accept too many at once and if you have a bunch then you should abort them.
Edit: you might also just quickly jump from system to system until you find one where a friendly fleet will help you. I presume you know that you need not wait for your fleet to jump your flagship.
Not certain on this (it's been a little while since I did these specific missions), but it's possible that one of the two missions, probably the convoy one, is the cause of the pirates. It wouldn't be much of an escort job if there wasn't something to defend the convoy from along the way.
When you leave the starting planet, try jumping immediately rather than waiting for the rest of your fleet (and the convoy) to line up and be ready. Combat doesn't take place in systems you're not currently in, so leaving the other ships behind won't put them at risk. Just make sure they've all arrived in your destination system before you try and land.
