are there other games besides star sector like this?

first i enjoyed but now i think the combat mechanik here realy lets you down ......had funn in starsector but so long no updates ....searching something new

I really like the combat in this game, but then sometimes I switch to Star Valor when I want more intense combat, and that one is getting updated soon for crew and fleet. It is an early access, not much story yet, but for a potentially infinite universe, lots of ships and upgrades, and full of fighting, it's worth checking out. The dev is cool, has an active discord too.

Naev is an interesting work in progress, it's free and is pretty different from endless sky for being in the same category. The controls took me a while to get used to, but the tutorial is reasonable enough to learn them.

I will provide three suggestions here.

There's Starcom: Nexus, which has a similar 2D style, but less freedom/customizability. It lacks a lot of Endless Sky's Charm, but can scratch the itch (I actually found the combat better there, but then, I hate Endless Sky's combat, so my opinion there is of little merit).

Another option would be Rebel Galaxy, this is more 2.5D, as Fighters (enemy and NPC only) can more in 3D. The game has a heavy mission-based structure, and an interesting enough storyline (if short and somewhat shallow, with an abrupt ending). It lacks the fleet system of Endless Sky, and is more a Broadsides-In-Space-Pirate-Game.

Finally, there's Starpoint Gemini: Warlords, while being completely 3D, and the most Endless-Sky like here, despite being basically purely Sandbox (it has a totally unimportant, forgettable, and pointless storyline). You can make your money via trading, questing, bounty hunting, or just expanding your empire, in this way, it's a lot like Endless Sky. You can capture enemy ships, buy ships, or even have NPC allies build them. In fact, the best description I have ever seen of this game is "Mount and Blade in Space", if you've ever played that medieval combat series).

None of these are quite like Endless Sky, and all cost money (although they are admittedly quite cheap). These are the best alternatives that I am aware of. All of them lack Endless Sky's depth of story (funny, for a game that originally had no story to speak of).

hmm yeah i allready knew this 3 game but thx ..... i only wish the combat in endless sky would be more like STARSECTOR ....where you ahve time to think and react not beeing destroyed in seconds or just steamroll everything in seconds without even knowing what just blew up ...
