Best Places to Extort Tribute
I've got 2.5B in the bank, just waiting for new missions in future new releases. In the meantime, I've done loads of money earning missions, captured loads of Raiders (and sold them), hunted down countless Marauder fleets, etc. etc.

So next thing I'm thinking of to fill in time - maybe I should gain tribute from some friendly worlds, then beat up some pirates / aliens to make said tribute worlds like me again.

So here's the question, which friendly worlds (Republic, FW or Syndicate) have the best TRIBUTE / DEFENCE FLEET SIZE / LOW COST FOR WINNING BACK FRIENDSHIP ratios?

I.e. high tribute, relatively easy to defeat defence fleets, and lowest number of pirates to clobber to win back friendship?

No matter how many pirates (or any other faction) you beat up, a dominated world will not like you. The reputation loss during domination is tied to the fact you blow up quite a lot of the defender's ships. If you blew up the same amounts in any other situation, you would lose just as much reputation.

None. When you attack for Domination, it counts as an Attrocity, which makes them, and their friends/enemies, hostile. Because it's seen as a *really bad thing*.
Only way to "easily" get them friendly again is to have a reputation reset, like at the end of a certain campaign... Or start the grind to make people happy.

The "grind"? What do you mean?

I have in a test run dominated over half the FWs, then sat on a couple of pirate planets killing pirate ships for 45 minutes. My rep with them has gone from -10000 to -4000 approx --- if I keep going for another hour or so (!!!) won't it get to 0 then + territory eventually?
You can grind reputation back to normal for the FW, Republic and Syndicate fairly easily. I haven't found an easy way to do it for Pirate worlds yet though, since you don't seem to gain reputation with them for killing, say, Syndicate ships. If you did, you could just destroy the Syndicate to dominate them, then the Korath to get back in the Syndicate's good graces, but that isn't working for me - I checked my save file and it isn't affecting my Pirate rep at all. The rest of known space though? Thats not too hard. Just save Pirate's for last and farm them until the other factions like you.

If you already have 2.5B banked there really isn't a reason to do this. Buy a fleet of cargo ships and you can easily dwarf the measly ~170 thousand credit tribute all of space would pay you by running heavy metals, luxury goods, and food between certain worlds. 2.5B is easily enough to build a large enough fleet to make tens if not hundreds of millions of credits every couple days.

Eh. I usually just dominate the pirate and neutral planets to avoid the hassle of grinding to get back reputation.
