End of Wanderer story line? [SPOILERS]
I feel like I have been left hanging. The Eye has opened, I have access to the Derecho. It seems like the Wanderer story line is done, but all that marks it is the message you should go see what the excitement is about? Have I missed something?

Nope, definitely not the end. Keep going, you even still have an awesome new ship to unlock.

Thanks for the info. I hit the new system too early, but now it is up and I did continue the story line, but now I am wondering just how strong a fleet I need. I started this story line with a Bactrian flagship and six Shield Beetles. I have already lost two Beetles, and now they are telling me I will need a strong fleet for the mission to install the Wanderer AI. Just how strong, I wonder? Am I liable to get wiped out? Do I need to go out and spend time building my fleet up before I try this?

From my experience I won't say yes but.... OH HELL YES !!!!
You'll need lots of ships and lots of credits to replace them.
P.S. sneaky is better than straight up fight.

The Kor Sestor and Mereti are far more powerful than the Hai or humans. You’re either going to need to buy lots of Shield Beetles or instead save up for a few Wanderer ships. A single well fitted Derecho can get you through a good portion of the Wanderer missions past opening the Eye, but I’d recommend at least a small fleet (3 to 5 ships) of well fitted Wanderer ships.

And just for later, the end of the Wanderer story that is written so far is when the Wanderers have colonized three planets in Korath space.

the Wanderer story is originally balanced to be playable in just 1 ship, the strongest Wanderer one available, although a few battles are basically unbeatable with just 1 ship (without flying to the edge of a system & scumming it)
I was gonna playtest all battles again to balance them, but some other things had to be done first, so it's still an issue in the source build
I advice using several Tempests/Derechos with fancy tech, and attack the same enemies the Wanderers are focusing; the faster you kill a ship, the faster the enemy loses that ships' DPS, so the longer your ships survive to do more damage

I've been doing it with shield beetles and a lot of them can get wiped out easily. Sometimes you gotta keep retrying so the majority of damage is on your wanderer escorts and not your fleet. But don't avoid combat though as they can't do it without help for many of the missions. Especially with going deep into their territory. Have your fleet a jump behind and call them all in at once after a couple seconds of the escorts arriving. Enough to draw the enemy fire but no longer or they'd be near dead by time your fleet arrives.
