Ship Layout Planner (fully functional spreadsheet tool)
Hi! I did this spreadsheet to try different layouts with any outfits and any ships. Some of you might find it useful. Here is how it works:
> Description: you choose the ship model and the outfits by drop-down menus and you will see the updated ship stats in the Ship Data table.
> Download: Here is the FILE [drive.google.com]
It works ONLY with Libre Calc or compatible spreadsheet software (probably Open Office works fine). You can download Libre Office for free.
> How to Import Data: I have imported all current ships and outfits. You can quickly import any mod files. To do this you need to merge the files into one (in cmd prompt or batch file: copy *.txt importDB.txt), then you can convert the file to importable format using notepad++ regex find&replace. I've created a macro for that. You can see the command I've used in that file: IMPORT_DATA [drive.google.com] (note: command 3 changes dots to commas, as I use them as decimal separator) After that you copy&paste the text into the sheet ImportDB and choose Separator Options: Tab and Space; Text delimiter:".
> Additional note: I am not a programmer and I don't pretend to be very good at spreadsheets or regular expressions. I am sure the files can be improved, but even now they seem to work fine.

so... before i go nerd on it and look at it. does this show the limitations of the ship sizes also?

It shows everything, just as you see it in the game, but including drag and heat dissipation. I think to add total shield/hull damage per second and special damage in the future. The game does not use any complicated formulas, so it was not hard to do. If I knew how to put a screenshot here, I'd show the main screen.

I've made some additions to the tool, like "cooling inefficiency" calculation is now taken into account and few other small changes. If anyone cares I can upload the new file for downloading.

This is pretty fantastic, It will help a lot with testing out mod ship stats.

Great tool, vic! I came to the forum specifically to look for this tool and here it was. Now I can calculate a build-out and confirm it will work before I travel to the ends of the galaxy only to be disappointed by my bad math.

Something like this would make a great in-game addition, although it should be limited to the outfits "you know of."

I know this is an older thread, but I encountered an issue where what the spreadsheet says my total outfit will come to being different than what occurs in game. So far I think it might be related to the Systems Core Medium on my ship.

Hi, I haven't played the game for a while and there probably have been some changes in the specs of some equipment. Have you tried to import the data from your game files (see first post)? What is exactly different?
