Endless Sky

Endless Sky

"You've heard enough horror stories" randomly when trying to depart?
I've run into an incredibly odd issue... I'm flying a blackbird, and currently relatively early into the game and the FW questline. I'm on the stage where I have to go to Deep in during the search (vagueness to avoid having to mark for spoilers), and I can complete this section just fine. However, when I try to leave again, I get a message talking about doing a pre-flight check, and needing to install a battery, and I'm not allowed to leave.

This only happens when trying to depart from a planet in this system as near as I can tell, as I've flown around multiple other systems after having re-loaded from an earlier save without issue. I do have a battery, and it is definitely sufficient for my ship. I have not encountered this issue upon visiting this planet before, and I tested and it also occurs if I attempt to land and leave Clink, the other planet in this system.

Anybody know what's up?

Can you upload your save, instructions can be found here, and list any mods you are using.

I can see if it's still around, but I believe it's been overwritten at this point. For reference, completely vanilla, no mods. There's probably a bug somewhere here if the devs want to track it down, but during the section of the quest line that involves disabling a surveillance drone and looting it, I also captured it. However, the drone ended up disabled before I left the system, and I didn't notice it was still there until I, on a whim, checked some ship info while trying to track this bug down last night.

So, in short, my best repro for this bug would be: capture a surveillance drone, and get it disabled floating in a system. Leave, come back later, land on a planet in that system, and when you try to leave the planet you may get this message saying you need a battery?

Google showed exactly zero other people having this issue, so I'm guessing this isn't exactly a common problem or an urgent one. Let me know if anybody wants to try and track it down, but in the future for anybody trying to get rid of this bug: just blow up the drone. I couldn't seem to get the drone to revive despite boarding it from its disabled state again, so I just shot it out of the sky, and then I was allowed to leave the planet once I landed and carry on my way.

Yes. your ship is under powered and you cannot leave till you fix this. Did you add an outfit during the mission?

Nope, just a standard "show up and leave" mission. Getting rid of the drone somehow fixed it, so at this point who knows.

Check your escorts, too. You get that message when any of your ships that would / should take off with you are failing the preflight check. In the outfitter, there should be a warning icon on the offending ship.
