Reputation mechanics

Year is 3038. Reputation with "Bounty hunters" whom we killed many (every time one of them fire at a disabled bounty I wanna board -- makes *a lot*) is 41194.65. Reputation with birdies whom we did a hundred missions for, repaired quite some ships, protected from the highly reproductive desperado Hai and Mereti robots is 44.7.

Question is: how does « Reputation » works? How can killing guys by the thousand results in having a super positive reputation and working hard to save a whole specie a little more than zero reputation, i.e. a thousand time less good?

Mods installed:
A few; 'Better Vanilla Pirates' results in quite a bit of pirates (and more bounty hunters I suppose)

It makes sense that killing pirates and Bounty Hunters will rise your reputation among them, afterall they are killers.
As for the extremely low Wanderer rep, did you get the Arfecta? (For any unfathomable reason). Don't forget that the Wanderers are alligned with the Pug so agression acts on the Pug will affect your rep with them

Thanks. It makes sense that killing tons of Bounty hunters crews will rise one's reputation among Bounty hunters? Errr, glad to learn that ':-} Then I guess it would make the same sort of sense that killing their aggressors will make the Birds kind of not fond of us. At least I never touched the Pug team in charge of the Birdies other than for story line missions and the occasional business.

Wanderer reputation doesn't increase for most actions, to see this deffined look at government.txt.
Base game has no ships that will take intrest in bounty ships other than yours, I can only assume this is an effect from a mod.

Bounty hunters were given just as a (prominent) example. Oh so rep mechanics differ widely between e.g. Human / Alien cases, ok thanks.
