loadout for [spoiler]sheild beetle[/spoiler]
recently i have been modifying sheild beetles and testing out the best combos in an new runthrough. i dont have access to quarg tech and the newer wanderer tech(double sunbeam turret) and i can loot korath ships easily. i was wondering should i use Korath engines and system cores in my sheild beetle or keep the current setup i have in them]

Shield Beetles make one of the best ships for mass equipping of Pug Seeker guns. Layer a boatload of defensive techs and outfits on top of that for the ultimate maximum engage range missile boat with never ending ammunition.

Particularly effective when coupled with long range fighting tactics with a priority on maneuvering to maintain engage distance. The reason Shield Beetles are the best for this archetype of combat vessel is because they offer maximum gun ports with high innate durability and solid speed for a vessel that size. One need not worry too much about great turning rate for a Seeker Boat Beetle as the weapons home on targets anyways so just being able to keep your distance from even faster light combat vessels can present your fleet with opportunities to win engagements without sustaining any fire themselves.

Seeker Boat Beetles are bae. Worth thinking about.

Korath engines can be awkward to use on shield beetles because of the limited engine capacity.
Korath systems cores are a pretty good choice, because of their energy efficiency (relative to Wanderer shielding).

Just a question but would pairing this would korath banisher make it even better?

It won't hurt:

Best use I ever found for banishers was as a farming tool for farming raiders in the Almach system. Stick about a dozen larger vessels in a parking orbit around the planet, as long as your fleet is all laser weaponry enemy ships taking off or landing get ko'd and then pushed out to the edge of the system, away from combat and safe for capping and collection.

Eventually a raider will fall victim to the same parked fleet, at which point it's all about collecting that easy money.

That's actually an interesting idea, using them as a missile boat using pug seekers or maybe korath missile thingies... Hmm mm....

Tried the missle boat thing. It's a great concept because you could basically have your ships run while still dishing out damage but it just isn't enough damage.

And the farming required to acquire enough pug seekers to make up for that problem is a huge investment in time and effort and save files.

But when you've got 50 Seeker Boat Beetles it feels wurf.

I add 1or 2flamethrowers on a gun port.
10-20 flamethrowers really make large battles easier. quarg ships have no substantial heat sinks
