[SPOILERS] Capturing an Arfecta
It seems like everyone's end goal is capturing an Arfecta, but how does one do it? I know where you are supposed to hunt for it but what ship should you use for capping it (i don't think a Bactrian would suffice) and for disabling it (would a lot of Shield Beetles be enough)?

Edit : If you have capped it once, would you mind posting your fleet comp?

Edit 2 : I've done it, managed to capture all 3 Arfectas that you'll encounter.

I used around 20 shield beetles, all of them outfitted with Deep Sky Atomic Engines that give them around 550 speed (essential for catching up the Arfecta), most of them are armed with default Hai weaponry (ion cannons, pulsers etc.) And around 8 of them are armed with flamethrowers.

The capturing flagship used is a bactrian armed only with point defense (so the other pug ships wont attack the flagship) and up to 280 bunks with full nerve gas.

Leaving this here for someone else that probably wants to capture those things. Not that this is the most effective way anyways.

Okay, now that i managed to captured an Arfecta (thanks everyone!) i'm curious if i attack the two Arfectas that show up in the Wanderer storyline would it affect the story?

Nope! It does not affect the story at all. There's no aknowledgement that you took the Arfectas... you just have three of them!
(Go you.)
Thanks man. Time to be the most dangerous power-hungry psycho in human and local alien space.

Earth is doomed
As if it hasn't met certain doom by many other FW/independent captains in other universes :)

Sorry, but your place in the Pug is not high enough to begin speaking of alternate universes. Please return to your place in ensuring T4 tech doesnt end up in the hands of the Captain you lost your Arfecta to. Dont think we didnt notice Renisia.

I personally used 1 bactrian, 5 korath raiders and 5 shield beetles with quarg skylances and quarg shield gen and such. While most people prefer overheating it, i prefer going direct massive damage. A bunch of korath disruptors/slicers wpuld also work
()Alf Aug 24, 2017 @ 5:50pm
I (using Bactrian) also did massive attack with my capital ships (4x Dreadnoughts, 3x Shield Beetles, 6x Kar lK VOT 349 --- all optimized) - no Problem with nerve gas, though the Wanderers fined me 1M because of having that kind of weapon after landing with each fresh captured Arfecta, but thats a cheap prize ;)

But well, i just realized them while playing Wanderer Story and wondering - where was the first one? Was it at FW compaign while attacking the Pug? If yes, another cause to restart everything with next nonbeta release ;)

Weird, that you have no clue about the generator or shield and hull regeneration and nice to even be able to make them even better with Kor engines + cooling + ramscoop.

My question would be if i'm right about finding the first Arfecta?

I think one of the next major things to get to is trying to capture a Drak ship :D

mission "Pug Angry at Being Farmed" landing invisible to offer or has "Pug Cease Hostilities: offered" not "chosen sides" "reputation: Pug" < -100 npc kill government Pug personality nemesis heroic staying system "Pug Iyik" ship "Pug Arfecta" "Ayee Eee Eek"
Ayee Eee Eek only appears outside of the Free Worlds campaign and when you've dropped your reputation with the Pug below -100.

I'm sorry, what?

Nope, not possible. Archons can't be disabled. And by that, I mean that they can only be destroyed. They have the "never disabled" tag.

By that you mean why Pug ships don't have outfits for power and shield/hull regen? As those are built into the ship itself.

Would that compromise Wanderer story? I just need to annoy them enough so this 3rd Arfecta is showing up randomly somwhere?

Btw. sorry for eventually bad english speaking/writing ;)

Okay, yeah, that clarifies it for me.
Michael gave an analogy for this:[github.com]

And as anyone who's built a computer knows, some cases come with integrated power supplies and some don't...

Also, i'm at the point where im supposed to return the box device findings to the Wanderers, would angering the Pug affect the storyline?
If you've angered them, your reputation is normalized to 0 anyway at a certain point, so you're fine.

Oh, ok, thanks for the reminder, i read it but had crossover thoughts while writing/thinking about the situation i'm currently in.
Related to outfits, my impression were more likely that Drak ships are biological things (like StarTrek TNG - Tinman, or Voyager species 8472) and Pug are on the way to Draks developement stage - but that's another story/topic.

Another question, is it normal that there isn't any beam or shots visible when Arfecta weapons fireing?

Yeah, my Pug Gridfire turrets are like that too, only thing visible is the muzzle flash from your ship and the explosions at your target.

My Wanderers campaign i going just fine, even though the Pug are really pissed with me right now.

Even though i'm enemies with them, i can still land at Pug Iyik when there's a Wanderers mission requiring me to do so.
Avior Aug 24, 2017 @ 8:39pm
The Pug Gridfire Turret is a very special weapon. You'll notice that it can ignore asteroids (and enemy ships as well, though it's a bit weird on that end).
Everything can just be handwaved away as, "Pug magic."

outfit "Pug Gridfire Turret" category "Turrets" cost 24000000 thumbnail "outfit/unknown" "mass" 83 "outfit space" -83 "weapon capacity" -83 "turret mounts" -1 weapon "fire effect" "gridfire fire" // The star effect on the turret mount when it fires. "hit effect" "gridfire hit" 2 // The two strong red lines that cross the enemy. "hit effect" "gridfire cloud" // A small red cloud on the hit target that quickly fades away. "phasing" // Ignores asteroids (and, to an extent, enemy ships). "velocity" 1440 // Crosses a distance of 1440 each frame. (The game runs at a rate of 60 frames per second.) "lifetime" 1 // Lasts a single frame. "reload" 20 // Fires every 20 frames, or 60 / 20 = 3 times a second. "turret turn" 20 // Turns 20 degrees per frame, for a total turning rate of 1200 degrees per second. "firing energy" 800 // 800 energy per shot. "firing heat" 400 // 400 heat per shot. "shield damage" 600 // 600 damage per shot. (600 x (1 - 0.3) = 420 damage while shields are up.) "hull damage" 600 // 600 damage per shot. (600 x 0.3 = 180 damage while shields are up.) "blast radius" 40 // Blast radius of 40. "piercing" .3 // 30% piercing.

In the opposite, i see the "hitting-glow" on asteroids (didn't realized yet if some of energy is going through), aswell they destroy disabled ships when i try to board them, when an Arfecta escort shooting on active ships behind those disabled ones.

I just made them even more agile in speed and turn :D - i love those Arfecta (of course only because of internal systems and "standart" weapons) ;)

@Avior: Thanks for your "technical" review, in fact i try not to look into all those gamefiles to know what's up, but have a nice exchange of "personal" knowledge, experience and opinions. :)

Oh, you must be on 0.9.6, then. Phasing was implemented in 0.9.7.
