Strategies for a certain mission. [spoilers]
Okay, I've hit the point in the new storyline where the Kor Sestor invasion of human space happens. Specifically the part where Admiral Danforth gives you the fusion/antimatter(?)-powered bunker buster.
And then the KS armada overruns Farpoint...
And while I know using the bomb is the normal route, I also know (from reading the files. Yes, I'm a cheater. :P) there's an alternative ending involving defeating the whole armada yourself and "destroying the Alpha base the old-fashioned way."
Problem is, taking on a 100+ fleet of ships that are mostly tougher than Wanderer warships is an expensive endeavor. Unless someone knows a good legit strategy? (that doesn't involve stealing Arfectas or Quarg tech)

Can mods count as legit o3o? I'll just add a death star :3 Or a ecplise class SSD

I doubt it. Mods change components in a game and immediately cause it to be non-Vanilla.

As to your question, mtboy6698, If you don't want to grab a Kor Efreti World Ship and just go on a Quarg Capture spree, I would suggest using as many plasma cannons and turrets as possible, as they will force the Kor Sestor ships to over heat and shutdown for a short time. Load those up and then use Derechos and Hurricanes as tank/attackers.
Atleast I would try this had I not already done the mission after loading up on Quarg Wardragons and Skylarks :-P
Good Luck and try whatever fits your play style!!

I was kinda intending it to be a joke.

But after some thought, you could camp a pirate system and capture as many ships as you can then sell them of for a few hours, That'll rack in some money to buy a ton of powerhouse ships, to do the same thing to Quarg ships eventaully building up a fleet.. I've never attacked the Quarg before so meh might not work, I cant launch the game at the moment so I can't test it myself.

So it's still going to be an expensive attempt (as I don't have an equal amount of Wanderer warships on hand at the moment)... But thanks for the advice.
I also want advice on this though: Would capturing a fleet of Sestor carriers be legit? They're already enemies, and Efreti control rooms were made for that exact reason, right?

I said no making enemies of the big strong alien meta powers. Lol I already have a separate save that's done that (capturing their outfits I mean, not the ships themselves).

If you do go mod, shields up and Quarg Military Retaliation will have you set in a few hours. You still get to fight for your fleet, which I like, and the Quarg Elderdragon is a complete beast.
There is a problem here.

This is the problem.

I mean, they already hate your guts and are willing to shutdown from excessive heat trying to murder you. Might as well try propheting off of them.

In my experience, I had a couple of dozen battleships by that point in the story, and I just made them hold position/gather while I hover over the planet. Let them go all-out at the Kor Sestor, but keep peeking into their shield/hull values via ship info often. Once you see any one of your ships' hull go below 75% or 50%, land your ship, and then take off again. The Kor will also have their shield/hull reset, but disabled and destroyed KS ships won't return. Repeat until only a scant few enemies remain, then mop them up and board them derelicts.
You might get lucky and cap some KS ships that remain.
