How Do I Start The Campaign?
I have over 200 hours on endless sky and didn't even notice there was a campaign/missions. How and where do I start them. Also will custom ships and plugins break the storyline? Help Plz.

Head south, spam spaceport, double check your save file to make sure you didn't already ruin it.

All of them in the south. if you are worried you may have already ruined it, don't be afraid to start a new save. it is recommended that you play the game vanilla (without mods) if it is your first time playing the story.

If you already have lines that starts "FW Katya" then there is a good chance you ruined it. But chances are you would have noticed it if you started and then failed. So on the whole, Go south and spam spaceport.

yes I am in the same boat. I talked to some free worlds lady that wanted me to do missions for them. but I said I would prefer not to get involved with the free worlds right now. My reasoning was that I did not really know enough about the factions to decide who are the good faction(s) to help them. I would also add that if I wanted to help the "bad faction(s)" then I would be at loss as to how to help them. Since nobody asked me again, I looked up the campaign tut and found that this encounter was the beginning of the main campaign. I wonder if this is what you mean by "ruin". There needs to be an easier way to differentiate when to say yes and no. Perhaps a maybe later option.

never be afraid to start a new save. Currently the free worlds is the only tier 1 (human) faction with a fully implemented storyline. Our developer has stated that he would like the remaning t1 stories to be community generated content (players making storylines) because the Dev loves to actually play this game and gets excited for new content that he didn't make, too

Also, even once all human factions are implemented, there wont be any "bad" factions, only "bad" choices the player makes themself.

That said, if you are worried you have ruined it, open your save file in something like notepad++, (actually click this and use it, it helps)[notepad-plus-plus.org] and remove any lines from your conditions section that involve "FW Katya" and then head south and spam spaceport.

On windows, you will find your save files in C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\endless-sky\saves

Otherwise, just make a new save. there's no harm in that. build your new save up to having, i would say, at least a behemoth, maybe a falcon or leviathan, and then go south and spam spaceport after you get the popup for the free worlds becoming a thing and the bombings.

The very first Katya mission can be skiped with out ruining your save.

Thanks Kiko. BIG UPS! Can't wait to begin the campaign hehe. Sidenote... I have 3 Korath Raiders that I acquired by raiding it with my Bactrian through a long arduous process up north east. How am I to acquire more teleport items with this new Bactrian NERF :steamsad:

any nerfs or beefs will not affect existing ships on existing save files. as long as you dont sell it and buy a new one it will be fine.

So how will new players be able to capture a Quarg ship or Korath ship in the future? If not already possible through endgame ships that is.

With the proposed nerfs, they still could...

More to say, you would be forced to specialize your baccy, not make it good at absolutely everything all at once. And your specializations wouldn't be incredibly overpowered. The regular baccy would still likely exist, in game, with its existing stats - but have a new sprite and be a marauder variant. (this is still completely up for debate last time i checked, and none of it is set in stone, but this topic isnt for that.)

Can I add my custom ships to my save file to make my progress faster? Also I have a bit modified plugin that adds all of the equipment on New Boston. Will the plugin harm anything?Thanks!

you could if you wanted to, no one would stop you, but most of us would rather you play the story legit or "as intended."

But we aren't going to demand you play a specific way.
