Assuming I did want to use my bactrian's fighter bays for something other than boxwings, what would be the best choice?

They are better due to being higher tier. The Drone ones are way too much effort. The chasers can be worth it if you are only fighting in human space. In T2 fights they don't make much diffrence.

Please do not encourage people who are looking for legitimate solutions to cheat. They are looking for an actual answer in the base game, not "Hey, you need to cheat!"

Generally, people who use combat fighters make "missile finches", which are finches with 2 meteor missile launchers. Since close range beam-laser fighters almost always die, "missile finches" are considered the "best" fighter by many players.

Meteor whatevers are what I use most often. i take whatever fighters i have on hand and custom them out to serve as fire support

My orange name doesn't by default make me a power abusing tightly wound jerk. Don't worry, I was already chill.

That said, as a rule, I have to dissuade people from both encouraging and discouraging cheating in topics such as this. It's part of the job of the moderators to ensure the community doesn't become toxic, while also encouraging self expression.

We have a very fine point of balance to hit when it comes to moderation, if I had a big enough problem with Versalite's comment, I would have just deleted it. Instead, I asked for self enforcement.

I rarely use my fighters.
BUT when I do?
Feels good to unleash a dozen or so Korath Chasers armed with Fire Lances on the Republic's fleet...or better yet, a Pirate Roost.
Also a Finch with Hai atomic engines and shields...nice. They're still cannon-fodder.

Are you agreeing with me? I honestly haven't tried them out, I rarely have carriers in my fleet. I'm liking the idea of a Thunderhead Skein with Thunderhead Barbs, just stick some anti-missiles on the Skein and a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of missiles and that would be crazy ranged DPS. I can feel my CPU flinching just thinking about it.
