Endless Sky

Endless Sky

Complete noob here... not sure what I'm doing?
So I've done the quest for the old man in the beginning, and took his advice and went into the trading biz (Currently I have four scouts re-equipped for people and cargo transport) But I have yet to have any sort of prompts for a storyline besides some kind of planet strike of some sort, which doesn't seem to amount to anything...

I also haven't figured out where you repaint your ships... Blue is nice and all, but I'd love to change to the green I see some ships flying.

I've gotten the hang of buying low and selling high with the map, and I've been taking missions that are on my way to larger missions (or buying/selling cargo like that), so I think I have that down... I also seem to have maxxed my credit score seeing as it wont go up anymore.

Also, is there a way to keep all my ships together without having to equip them exactly the same and own the exact same ships when the autopilot is engaged? I know you have to hold J for all of them to align, but I want them to do that for every jump and not have to hold it each time I go for an 8-jump route...

Is buying/selling goods, doing rush deliveries/personnel transport, and shooting at pirates (if you have a fighting ship) the only things you can do in this game so far?

Go south my friend, and grab some drinks while you are there.

This is the answer. But don't forget to click space port in the south ;)

I would recommend having at least a clipper that is marginally combat capable before starting the FW campaign. So, until you feel like you are ready, just keep making money. Once ready, go to the region labeled "The South" and click spaceport every time you land.
You are spaming spaceport in the wrong bit of space. Once all 3 main campains are done then you can spam in any part of space to get a storyline.

You can't repaint your ships (without a mod). The colours you have are a bit like a flag on a sea going ship. You will get a repaint once you start the main campain.

Max credit score is 800. It won't go up unless you have taken a loan.

Have your ship equiped to be the slowist.

No, as you may have guessed there is a campain.

Thank you guys for that, I'll try to make a bunch of money and buy some big ships I guess.

Any way to keep them automatically together though? I probably will want to outfit them differently (or buy a variety of ships) and I don't want the huge desync in travel with my vessels... Its why I reloaded my save after I bought that freighter to add to my fleet...

also... is there a paint shop in the south as well?

-I was unaware the spaceport even did anything, so I tended to ignore it. but 3 campaigns?

-aw, that stinks that I can't repaint it... I'll have to look for that mod.

-had a feeling that was the max score.

-so what you're saying is have my slowest ship in the lead and that will fix my issue?

Republic, syndicate, free worlds

There may also bee a deep (Deep Security Forces) and Pirate/Independent storylines, but those are lower priority and less likely to be merged.

Currently the Free Worlds is the only tier 1 (human) campaign implemented. The other 2+ are being worked on by the community and not the game's developer.

also, yes, having your lead ship be the slowest will help with your ships flying with you. you can also hold J between each jump and wait for your ships to all align to jump together. But that is time consuming and annoying

That's quite an interesting (and honestly, pretty awesome) way to add more content to the story o_o

As for synchronized ships, it does help to keep them fairly similar, but you can have a dozen exactly equipped ships, and they will still stagger a wee bit. I think that this is realistic - your fleet isn't the Blue Angels or Snowbirds.

That stinks that there's no designation or option for your ships to do this by default yet. I'll have to do the slow ship method for now. also, Spaceman Spiff, I'm not expecting blue-angels kind of sync, just for my lead ship to wait for its escorts before jumping off and getting eliminated by pirates... Sins of a solar empire's fleet movement is a great example of what I mean, all the ships align and wait at the edge of a gravity well until every ship in the fleet is ready, then they all jump at once.
Just a couple of extra tons on your flagship is enough slow down to keep a fleet together.
