Mechanic character overpowered?

Of the four possible characters, the mechanic is the only one that has a 2-space attack, and occasionally doesn't even have any cooldown after her attack. Compared to the kid, who has a solid two seconds of cooldown after an attack of half the distance, she is a straight upgrade. Am I missing some mechanic of getting out of cooldowns, or is the Mechanic characater really just that broken?
