Will there eventually be a level editor?
I can see there being a level editor in this game, where players could make a single map as a challenge or perhaps a string of maps for a mini-campaign, if they are able to add written text in the game somewhere that unfolds the story. But this would really increase the life of the game once players have completed the main campaign.

Even 'if' the maps are pre-gen ones for replayability players being able to create a map via a level editor where you can sculpt the terrain then add the tiles and props etc and add trigger points for text prompts (if that is how it works??) for story content if a player is inspired to add such content to their creation. I'm guessing alot of players in this game are Table Top gamers too, so being able to write some backstory or mission content in text wouldnt seem out of place. Players can easily ignore his or skip it. But it would make community made content more richer, especially being on workshop where the cream will rise to the top.

What if in the course of completing the main campaign, you unlock units you can use in the level editor as asdversaries or heroes.

The devs still can release new campaigns, characters and level editor props if they plan on DLC, i dont think level editor would threaten future campaigns.

We couldn't agree more. It would be a fabulous to have a level editor, allowing our community to create content to each other. We have talked about this many times, and it mostly comes down to resources and time. We would love to do it, but not sure if or when we could do it.

It looks like a great game but I won't lie, the lack of random maps or a level editor (and a skirmish mode, apparently) is keeping my money in my wallet. I've been through this before with countless other similar games in the same boat. The replay value is just not there, therefore I stopped buying them.

It's a shame, too, because the game does look really good, like REALLY good, and it's a good bet that I'm not the only one not buying it because of this issue. If it were me, and I'm no video game developer, it's something I would commit to or at least state that I intend to do if sales are good, even if it's the very last thing that ever gets done, which would be fair.

I do agree with ROFLwut? An editor/skirmish mode would create more sales.

As a hobbyist who makes dioramas I would be happy with just the level editor as a stand alone. Cant imagine how great it would be to build tiles to scale so I can design my actual dios onscreen. :-)

+1 I agree with you there. The lack of confirmation of more maps / level editor / workshop is very disconcerting. I will put my hands in my pockets and buy this if I could be sure / receive assurance from the devs that enough battle maps would be available for the game's longevity. And I'm sure there are many more out there thinking the same.

The more support the idea gets, the more it's likely to happen but I would give them time to mull over how they respond to this sort of thing. I'm sure it's a big step and anything they say one way or another, no matter how conditional it may be, might as well be written in stone as far as Steam users are concerned.

I can picture it already:

Game dev: "If we're able to do it, we'll create a map editor but it'll be a while off yet and it heavily depends on how successful the game is."

One random Steam user: "It's been 8 months, still no level editor or random map generator?"

Game dev: "We're sorry but sales haven't been as high as we'd hoped. We're not going to be able to do it at this point but if sales turn around we may revisit the idea."

300 random Steam users: "The devs lied! They scammed us and told us there would be a level editor! It's been a year now and the promised level editor has been cancelled! Don't buy anything from these scammers! They only take your money and run!!!!1!!!"

I do agree with Rolfwut that it definatly is a serious consideration. Unless it has some crazy long great multi saga single player and well balanced maps for multiplayer.

Duane, got a link? I do like to look at em. Dont have the time or skill for it tho.
Wartile, diorama simulator! :P
