Game will not start

So far every time i try to start the game steam stops work, and then steam keeps saying the game is running. Any help?

I have this problem as well. I checked Task Manager, and I've even turned my computer completly off, but steam still believes the game is running. I can't remove it's local content because steam believes the game is running.

Im having the problem of, i launch it, i get to the Play/Supprt menu, i click play, it closes the game out... windows 10 probably, though it was running fine on my other machine...

My game starts i have windows 8 but, when it does start the game isnt in full screen. Instead it acts like it is going full screen then the game is only in the middle of my screen about maybe 25% of the actual screen size. Strange. Hope somebody helps figure out your problem i'm looking for a way to maximize mine right now

I had the same issue when I recently upgraded to Windows 10. It had worked fine on Windows 7. I found on Win 10, I resolved by locating the game down ...\Steam\SteamApps\common\Lords of Magic Special Edition\English\lomse. Exact path may vary with your setup of course. Anyway, launching from there worked. And oddly enough, now I can launch it from Steam too... Hope that helps.

To run this game disable anti virus/skype then open control panel/programs/turn windows features on or off legacy components check direct play. It should now install and you can run the game.

Hello I had this problem but I got it to work in win10 by doing this:
go to program files > steam > steamapps> common> Lords of magic special edition > English>

right click on lomse and then click on the properties option. click on the compatibility tab set the compatibility to windows 8 and tick the run in 640 x 480 screen resolution box and apply.

Create a short cut of the lomse file on your desk top because when I tried steam it wouldn't work. How was that for people?

The problem is when you first try to start the game it tries to install directplay and if you have anti virus/skype enabled it returns an error code and ends the game. The solution installs direct play the game runs even after you restart your anti virus/skype and runs from the steam client.

Try combatibility settings for windows vista. Does it try to download directplay?

i have tryed setting it to vista still no and i dont think it tryed to download anythink
