Bingo.
Move the item to your lord, to the artifact bar, and right click it to remove it. Save the file and load it, and you'll have the bonus points for selling it plus having the artifact back.
Rinse and repeat for the desired starting army.
Buy the most expensive artifact you can afford (note you can de-level your Lord to get more points for this). Go to the artifact bar at the top and LEFT-click and drag the artifact back to the bottom. Then mouse over the artifact bar and you will see an invisible ghost version of the artifact there. RIGHT-click on the invisible artifact and you just refunded it twice.
You know, all those years I never bothered to see if I could drag and drop where the floating text stayed. I always assumed it was just a visual glitch of data not being cleared.
You buy the most expensive (Actually, least expensive non 0, but still has a number assigned, may work better) unit or artifact you can that doesn't cost 9999 and leaves 9999+ left.
Then buy a correlating unit or artifact that costs 9999.
Then sell them first purchase first.
This works because the highest price is 9999, and so it will not raise that price. Remember, all that don't already cost 9999 increase relative to the number of artifacts or units you have.
All units and artifacts of the Opposing Faith I suspect are always 9999.
