I renamed the goblin king folder by adding ".c4m" and It seems to appear in my mods now but enabling it doesn't seem to add the content
That’s no doubt the GobblinKing folder you got after extracting everything. Renaming it won’t help. Instead, what you want is to move its contents out to the mods folder itself (then just delete that useless folder).
What you should get, at the end, directly in your mods folder, is a folder with one or more TGA images in it, plus a c4m file (which is actually a plain text file).
EDIT: Marlin obviously types faster than I do. He's right, depending on what you're using to extract files from the .zip, they may or may not end up in an unwanted new folder.
