Is the Infuse magic library broken..

or am I doing something wrong? I am not able to cast infuse magic library on Magic library despite having the ritual unlocked and I have more than enough gold and iron, it is gryed out.

I believe infuse magic library upgrades an iron, silver, or gold golem with spellcasting abilities and doesn't do anything to other types of golems. If you don't have one of those three golems it won't do anything.

Oh, okey, so I just lacked a golem. It should really be mentioned in the description that it needs a golem..

there is one thing far more awesome for enchanter:
finding a gold mine and an amulet of regeneration

I honestly am not sure about this. If you sacrifce the tier 2/3 library, you get fewer mage offers. You can already get a metal order initiate and upgrade them at the magic library for the same spell choices. However, you get a much wider (and more over the long term) amount of mages just leaving hte library alone.

I have trouble imagining that it would be worth sacrificing both a mine and a library to get one spellcaster, no matter how beefy.
