Amusingly enough, the one Demon Lord you acquired is the one with the lowest odds of being controlled. Back when I was playtesting the beta, acquiring the Lord of Hades was infuriatingly difficult even when I cheated and savescummed.
That's the downside of the nearly unrivalled power the Demon Lords possess, and the relative ease of accessing them.
For Summon Demon Lord, specifically, here's what you can get and how likely you are to control it at 500 and 750 sacrifices:
So yes, you got unlucky, but this is never a reliably successful ritual. Even under the best of circumstances, the summoned being is more likely to attack you than to join you.
I did save-scummed to get one of the demon lord. Not really proud of it, but I did.
