Conquest of Elysium 4

What does it take to actually defeat a Doom Horror?
Had a Maker of Ruins appear near my tower of the elements.

Just under 500 health, 5 armor, 12 magic resistance, earthquake every round and a cone area 1-50 crush attack at close range. Even with crossbowmen on every part of the wall I only did around 30 damage. Seems like even an enormous army of late game summons would be turned to paste and with 12 magic resistance he's basically immune to all the instant kill spells. You also can't swarm him without some form of large area defense boost because earthquake hits the entire battlefield.

With 12 magic resistance, that limits your options a lot. Maybe Troll King could do it if you took a ridiculous amount of time to recruit enough Rock Trolls as they have enough HP/regen and damage to dish out a decent chunk of damage each before they get crushed.

CoE doesn't try to be fair :steamhappy: Maker of Ruins sounds like a lotto-type monster: you hope some other AI "wins" that lotto. Other random encounters in this class include the 4 Riders of the Apocalypes (1 at a time), the invasion from Inferno, and maybe a Dragon visiting the Gold Mine while you're in it.

Enchanter's Onyx Golem could one-shot a Maker. It might take a dozen punches to get that MR 12 to fail once.

The simplest solution seems to be to vacate your citadels, let it walk wherever it wants, follow behind it, and reflag your sites.

An entrenched Enchanter in full Guardian Creep mode could probably grind down a Maker in 1-2 fights. Maker of Doom attacks alone vs. a citadel with Portal, guarded by 18 Guardians + Enchanted Gate -- and nothing else :p I assume a Maker is size 3 and can walk over the walls, ignoring the Enchanted Gate damage -- but it still bogs down beating on 1 Guardian at a time, while taking 18 Lightning strikes every round. If it even survives the 1st fight, now it's in the Enchanter's Portal network, and the CoE AI thinks: see Portal, use Portal -- so it blindly teleports anywhere in the Enchanter's Portal network, into -- another Citadel with 18 more Guardians :steamfacepalm: And no enemy ever teleported twice.

Apparently a Witch can defeat one with a single creeping doom. Maker of Ruins only does physical damage which they are immune to, and creeping doom is effectively immune to terror.

They also have no shock resistance which opens up some possible strategies for air warlocks to deal with them.

plus this is a DOOM HORROR meant to be somthing at the same level as cuthulu.
its meant to END what it encounters you just got REALLY unlucky (or did not stop a cube event). my endgame is always to try and find a portal to the elemental planes so i can fight the 1 doom horror that always spawns.
I always seem to find the Slave to Unreason, and he's a real P.I.T.A.

Coming to make the perfect cube almost unconquerable and collect star oaks to help him as time goes on. Even saw him take ownership of the nexus citadel, though my demon lord was enough to crush him there.

Slave to Unreason is tough. In my game with troll king he was impossible to beat. By the time I got to the cube he had 11 star oaks. I defeated all ai classes but didn't win the game as I had nothing to kill him with.

I had the same thing happen, and I was troll king too. It was a mistake to put invulnerable trolls in front, it just meant he confused and turned them against me and they were unbeatable.

On a third try I brought tooooons of goblins and put a single pyromancer in because of his weakness to fire. The goblins bought enough time for him to spam the Meteor spell every other turn that wasn't negated by any of his immunities or MR, and he was burned eventually.

Unfortunatelly for me, my map did not have any library so I never got offer to recruit any of the wizards. I had only troll and goblin units.

From what I've seen in the game (and I've seen quite a lot) the doom horrors are the hardest unit. I've fought the demon lords, I've fought huge armies and I've even opened up the sealed chamber in Agartha aid fought the powerful god vessels and their superbly powerful spawn, but I think the doom horrors are the worst. Maybe the "trapped gods" that come from the sealed chamber are on par, but that's it!

Mist Warriors. They float (immune to Earthquake), Ethereal (Ignore some of the Maker's attacks) and have an AN damage on their longbow
