Conquest of Elysium 4

Can certain enemies perma-kill my Lich?
Playing Necro, and I got my Lich a while ago for the first time. Well, I wanted to test out his power with certain items, against certain enemies, but I'd almost completely conquered Elysium. (Just Dwarves left, sending out little parties of 10-20 per group.) So, I decided, what the hell? Let's go to Hades.

Went to Hades, got into some cool fights, and eventually decided, "Okay, Imma YOLO this 200 unit castle."

Well, he did great, but ended up losing. It was like... 100 Dispossessed Spirits, and a ton of shade units mixed in. I THINK the killing blow was done by a Spirit, but I can't recall perfectly. Anyways, it's been 6 turns, and he isn't respawning.

I don't particularly care at this specific point in the game, as the win is guaranteed with how many undead and other baddies I have roaming the world, but I'm just wondering if certain forms of death can keep a Lich down? I've held the temple he was created at the entire game, never once lost it, but he isn't coming back.

How long does it usually take for him to return? He died a few other times and came back the very next turn with no action points, but maybe there are certain factors that affect respawn time? Not sure.

Help please! :)

With the exception of monsters with homeplane (just the demon lords and elemental royalty), immortality only works when you're on the same plane as your respawn point. Your Lich's respawn point was on Elysium, but he died on Hades. That's why his immortality didn't work.

OOOHHH, I can't believe I didn't think of that. Alright, this is good information to have.

I kind of like the, "Learning the game as I go," element of CoE. Liek every game these days has an irritating tutorial that tells me every little thing I can do, but discovering the game can be so much fun, hehe.

I have yet to explore any of the other planes besides Hades. Can't wait to see those.
There's absolutely tons to discover in CoE. Have fun!

Hey man, while I got you here, do you have any special tips on finding Ancient Temples? I've played like 8 games as Necro and only ever found one. (I restarted most of them midway, because I realized I totally screwed myself one way or another and had no hope of winning, usually because one or two enemies had crap tons more troops than myself, of a higher quality.)

CoE seems to be super downlow indie, so there isn't much in the way of info out there, heh.
Ancient Temples are most common in the Fallen Empire society (you can choose society in the Random Map Settings when starting a new game).

However, Lichcraft doesn't actually require an Ancient Temple--any temple will do. In either the Empire or Fallen Empire society, there will always be a 4-tile capital including some variety of Temple District. Additionally, you could guarantee a temple regardless of society by making (at least) one of the other players a High Priestess, Priest King, or Voice of El, as all three have a temple in their starting citadel.

WHAT.

Wow. Okay. I read some other forums posts that said you needed an 'Ancient Temple'... BUT I have seen your posts around and you know your ♥♥♥♥.

I've conquered like 4 temple factions since I started playing this game, and I usually play Empire for all the extra hands from cities and whatnot, so I can always just take the capitol. I feel so dumb now.

THANK YOU.
Glad to help. :)

Breaking News: On the very next game I played, I used the big four square city's temple to become a lich and win the game.

So good.
