After purchase: not downloading files

I'm using steam on mac and just purchased S2F Faster than Wind. Although the game is appearing under my apps in the steam launcher, when I click on the game to "Download Files" it displays a message telling me there's a problem. Now, I followed the instructions for correcting this issue 'by finding and deleting the the appcache directory (located here: /Users/w3/Library/Application Support/Steam/appcache), and then restarted my computer - but the problem still persists.
