Perhaps it was to encourage us to experiment more with abilities and be more creative. Maybe it was more pragmatic to leave it out than to complicate the coding for locked-sword contests. Or maybe they thought the skilled Lord Protector, a former Grand Serkonan Guard and Blade Verbana champion or his ward who learned from him would or should not dodge in combat?
Any answer you receive will be pure speculation.
Example; Press and hold down forward, then press and hold sprint simultaneously. Next press crouch and release the sprint and button to slide. Voila.
It becomes even easier if you upgrade your agility and reflexes. Some bonecharms also help, like increasing sliding distance.
You can also jump backwards or blink away. Use Windblast to blow them away. Blinking at them will result in a kick.
If you are looking at continuously dodging, that doesn't work so well. It can be done, but if you move away too much, the guard will shoot you in the face and then bum rush you.
Best approach is assassinations. If you want to stand and fight groups of enemies, this requires employing a combination of abilities in sequence (depending on situation and environment) as well as quick reaction times to take out enemies with ease.
Edit: You can dodge gun shots in the same way as dodging sword attacks. When you see the guard going for the gun, he'll point and there's a small delay before he pulls trigger. If fighting groups of guards, try for a bottleneck so that anyone farther away that's shooting at you will hit the guards instead of you.
I want to dodge too. Bully the guards and have fun. I know it's doable.
It seems like this game sometimes cheats in regards to sword swing distance, but not nearly as much as the first game did. Sometimes it feels like there's moments where an enemy attack has "locked on" and is now unavoidable unless you successfully block or teleport away, even if the visible attack is nowhere near you, but I don't know how true this is.
Some youtubers who upload stylish high chaos runs might also be able to help you figure out which attacks can be dodged, either by watching their technique or just asking. There's definitely several enemy attacks which can be easily learned and exploited in this way.
Unlike in D1, in D2 you can grab and choke a guard mid battle.. also if you strafe and weave, and get the guards in a line, the other guards shoot, stab and slash each other to get to you .. now thats good fun .. just learn to play the game
I know how to play both dishonored 1 and 2. Read and then reply please. I am not asking about the basic mechanics of the games. You can in fact dodge sword swings by doing a run slide or crouching. It is just very hard to pull off and inconsistant. I have seen StealthgamerBR do it consistantly twice in a row. A slide dodge, then a crouch dodge on the same guard.
