The detection rate is ridiculous
Through the tiniest of holes enemies see me from dozens of meters away and go into aggro before I can even react, this is just ridiculous. I like hard games but this is just unfair and trial and error.

They see you far more in the distance than in the first game, and it's hard to see them against the background textures. Judicious usage of the zoom eye is necessary to see their routes to plot when you want to move.
I actually like this. I'm so used to stealth games where the NPC are quasi-blind and deaf. This is a refreshment.

I dunno, it seems fairly reasonable to me on VH. It's a nice step up from Dishonored 1's stealth difficulty (without the difficulty mod at least).

go play first boss of dark souls 3, then come back and delete this crybaby post. be patient. and you will have no problem with detection.

I love it, finally there is some challange, unlike in D1, where the AI was pretty much non-existent and you could go in front of guards on hardest difficulty without noticing you. Now on hard they actually provide challange.
I would love the game more if it worked properly and not being a broken down mess :/

I play a lot of stealth games and it is considered "good stealth" when you at least have a chance from "they start to detect you" to "everyone in a 50 m radius instantly knows where you are" - but here this happens almost instantaniously.

Yh that's why i'm playing on Hard instead of Very Hard. Hard is like the Very Hard from the first Dishonored.

The answer is in verticality. Try to stay high up, or perched on pilars. The AI has a hard time looking up.

But my pride! What about my pride :(
I'm getting old I guess.

I think it's great that way - reminds me a bit of the original Thief games.
Playing on very hard.... and its very hard. Just completed Mission 3 Nonlethal+ghost. Trial and error it was... but i like it that way :P

You're not actually recognized until they go red. While it's white its just a suspicion. Then is the time to fall back and try to evade.

The original Thief is my favorite game and I am very sure that they did not see you over that distance (not only because the levels where smaller) and the moment from "huh, someone there?" to "THIIIIIIIEF!" was long enough to duck away.

Man I played those games a lot back in the day

Game seems about avg on detection IMO and if ur struggling use powers or turn down the difficulty.

I replayed Thief 2 recently and it's waaaay harder than Dishonored 2 - guards spot you instantly if your aren't well concealed in a shadow or if you walk to fast on certain surfaces ;)
