Jindosh's riddle can't be solved!
Here is the reason: on the paper I gained from the howler's office, the solution to the door is:
Lady Winslow - Ring
Countess Contee - War Medal
Madam Natsiou - Diamond
Doctor Marcolla - Bird Pendent
Baroness Finch - Snuff Tin.

Here is the problem:
A) If the order on the solution is the same order according to which ladies sat. Then:
Contee can't sit next to Winslow, because Contee wore in blue while Winslow sits to someone in Red.

B) If the order is irrelevent to where ladies sit, Then:
The order of sitting should be
Purple - Red - Blue - Green - White
because:
the guy in green is left to white, and the green drinks wine.
While the guy in middle drinks whiskey(from "falling onto the guest in center and spilled the poor woman's whiskey")
So the green can't sit in the center.
And green can't be Winslow because Winslow is next to somebody in Red.
And since Contee in blue, Winslow could only be Purple who came from Dunwall.
However, "the lady from Dunwall said the ring were finer where she lived", so Winslow can't have the Ring!
What the hell?!!!

The only possible explaination will be: "Green sat left of someone in white" causes confusion.
Any ideas?

EDIT:
As it turns out, the riddle changes in every run of the game. Different players get different riddles. The solution I posted above is obtained through internet, which doesn't fit my Jindosh's riddle.
The Jindosh's riddle can be solved, as I have done it in the my second through of the mission 6. I have obtained the Eureka acheivement for it.
As for the final ending, leaving Paolo and Vice overseer alive is the best ending to this plot. Also, in order to acheive the best ending, you need to paralyze Stilton.
Good luck!

Okay, during my first run of the game, I obtained the answer from D's office. But later on, I have solved the puzzle by myself and check my answer according to the solution from D's office.
So here is the conclusion:
The top guy on D's solution list sits far left of the table while the bottom guy sits far right of the table, Try it out.

yeah but left and right in a straight line take on two different meanings depending on which side of the table the account was taken from.

Well, there is an implication in that riddle. 'left' in the riddle always means from the viewer's side, not from the ladies' view.

Didn't match for me either. The riddle says Winslow sat to the far left yet in the solution she is in position 4.

I had the same thing, just with Baroness Finch. My riddle explicitly said, she sat to the far left (= position 5), yet the answer sheet I got for delivering one of the bosses to the other, places her in position 4. So the riddle and the working answer to it are definately contradictory.

I'd love to see your evidence for this. It's a solid logic puzzle and has only 1 answer.

all i did was just save right before i was given the code from ether faction, then reload the save at the door and put it in. easy to get the achievment.

I solved Jindosh's door lock in about a half an hour, took long because a.) I suck at reading, 2.) I needed to write the combos down to solve it.

My lock combo was:

Finch, Diamond
Contee, Medal
Winslow, Pendant
Marcolla, Ring
Natsiou, Snuff Box

How I figured it out was by seating Natsiou in the last position on the left. The instructions were ambiguous, they said something like" "Natsiou was seated to the far left next to the person in the red jacket", but didn't say if it was the last seat to the left or the second last seat.

This was the key to the whole puzzle because once Natsiou's seat was figured out, everyone else's seat fell into place.

If Natsiou was the last one on the left, and the next person was in red, then there could only be 2 positions left for purple: either in the first spot on the far right or the center.

Since the woman in white was to the left in the woman in green, this limited where they could be; I simply tried out variations on the purple seating of which there were only 2 possibilities.

In the instructions, Finch was the one with the diamond so she was easy to figure out too because on the door lock I just put her in the 3 possible spots she could fit (1, 2, and 4).

After that was set, I went back to the door lock and put Natsiou on the far left and Finch with the Diamond in the above spots. It took about 3 tries before the door opened.

The rest of the instructions didn't really make sense, so I think the goal is to reduce possible comibinations, not eliminate all doubt.

Order doesn't matter and you know 2 guys right away.

There is always one who presents her great thing. But then there is one who scoffs at it and says "my thing is better". That person is the first mentioned person in the text (not in the list.)

From there it's maybe 2-3 minutes to solve it.

order is the primary confounding bit of this puzzle, actually.

have you completed the puzzle yourself or just watched someone else do it on youtube? or are you guessing as to the rules?

You have to change the NAMES and the ICONS to match teh list.
The solution to The Jindosh Riddle is always the same.

Most importantly: Ignore the first sentence which merely introduces the participants.

The solution order for the Front of the Lock from LEFT to RIGHT is:

Position - Person - Item
***************
#1 is 1-3
#2 is 3-2
#3 is 5-5
#4 is 2-4
#5 is 4-1

Ignoring the first sentence, list the people as they are named in order. Next, separately list the items as they are named in order.

Use the number sequence above for position order, person and item.

And that's all there is to it. Done.

Same for me. I spent two hours trying to figure this out, and the damn code didn't match the riddle.

WTF Arkane!
