Anyone see the difference between Very High and Ultra settings?
Having a hard time seeing any difference between the settings. I have taken screenshots and can't seem to find any difference between very high and ultra. I have hbao on and tried with or without AA. Love to hear if anyone can let me know what to look for.

On Ultra water gains world reflections. All I know so far. View distance also goes up on Ultra, so more parts of the level is being rendered at higher quality and distant objects are more detailed.

High - Ultra is almost the same
Medium starts to become worse
Very Low looks like crap

But no matter the Settings Mi..Micr..Microstu..Microstutter..stutter everwyhere... Framepacing seems to be really ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up in this one...

Also another Thing i noticed, do not test switching In-Game, always switch Settings and restart Game, because else you get really weird Results, the changes seem not to switch or only half if you not restart Game on even the slightest changes...

Thankyou for letting me know ^^ i found a sweet spot with texture/models ultra and the rest very high. as NeXuS23 points out vhigh and ultra are almost the same. I did bump down to medium for a look and lost lighting effects. ouch.

Oh - NeXuS23 you might try running in borderless window. it completely solved the microstutter issues for me.

I tryed to switch around borderless window, but the Problem it is not consistent, i switch everything fine, i walk out of room it microstutters again, i switch back to fullscreen and microstutters are gone, only to come back after i move to next room.

Even single switches like only Decals from Very High to High makes microstutters worse, while switching back to Very High makes it smoother, so i don't know what to do...

I even switched everything to 'Very Low' and had tons of Microstutters, then i switch back to ''Very High" and its better...

Currently it's the best to delete the Config File and start it up, for me it then goes to all 'Very High' and then simply don't touch anything, but even if it's the best result there are still microstutters...

I only know that fiddling around only seem to make it worse, so everytime you change something it's best to restart Game, but that's a bit too tedious and i'm at 99Min already only for fiddling around and the crashes at launch on the first days, so i stopped now to be able to test the patch and if it doesn't help i still can refund...

reflections.

ouch trek554. some folks report prerendered frames to 1 (nvidia) or on amd i believe they call it pagecue flipping can help. but like you with borderless being worse one has to do trial and error.
im sure if theres a way to get butter smooth you will find out :)

Sorry to hear that NeXuS23. perhaps setting the driver setting listed in my previous post can help. that has done wonders for fallout/skyrim in the past. not sure to be honest why once fixed changing rooms would cause the microstutter again. quite the pesky problem. ll

I tried 1 and it did nothing and went ahead tried 2,3 and 4 with no improvement either.

ill go out on a limb trek554 and ask if you have tried disabling vsync. not sure if you use that good old trick your self or not. worth mentioning though

no way I will put up with tearing.

I just figured out the issue though. it was adaptive resolution. it always defaults back to 75 but I would have never thought it would cause hitching. I put it at 100% this time before entering the game and no hitching at all when panning around.

Yeah it's indeed frustrating currently... Also about that 'prerendered frames to 1' thing for me that's more like snake oil and i not even have that setting on my GTX1070, there is only 'prerendered VR frames' and that one was already set to 1 anyway so...

I also noticed that VSync is borked too, the Settings in NVidia Control Panel are ignored by the Game, i need to force off there and enable it In-Game, which is also the default anyway if i just delete the config and launch it...

Further the Adaptive Resolution Thing does nothing at all, doesn't matter if set to 100 or left at 75 or set to 0, it does nothing... And if you look at the config it's weird anyway, In-game it's percentual and in Config it's a 0-3 Integer...

And the worst happens if you use the optimize Button in GeForce Experience, the Game then won't even launch anymore (Blackscreen, Soundglitch and flickering Steam Message) i already reported it to NVidia, but i checked the Config and there is nothing spectacular there so i suppose its because of the Fullscreen=1 that it crashes then...

For me there are to many borked things currently to further fiddle around, so let's wait for that 'magical' Patch... ;)

fantastic ! was not sure that slider was a percentage. In fact i had to google what adaptive resolution was. If your fps drops below an amount the resolution decreases. glad to hear you solved it. And i learned something new today !

the setting must be bugged because I was not even close to dropping below 60 fps with vsync on at 1080p.

The Adaptive Resolution in Config is(found it somewhere in Internet):

rs_enable "0" (off)
rs_enable "1" (horizontal resolution only)
rs_enable "2" (vertical resolution only)
rs_enable "3" (both horizontal & vertical resolutions)

So the percentage slider makes no sense...
