Should i play Dishonored before Dishonored 2?
I'm new to this series. Is playing dishonored 1 necessary before playing this? Is there some kind of preview for dishonored 1 at the start in this game?

Yes, this is a sequel. It has strong connection to previous game and its dlc.

The first game is great and you should actually play it and not just read about it or something.

yes indeed

Up to you but the first game was a gem! :) And since Dishonored 2 is currently having issues for a lot of people, I don't see why not.

Yes. Especially since 2 doesn't run that well at launch.

Yes, by the time you finish Dishonored 1 and the DLC's Arkane shoul fix performance issues for 2 giving you a smooth experience.

Dishonored is my favourite game of all time, it's why I wanted Dishonored 2 so badly.

Dishonored 2 is a great game on it's own, but I really, REALLY recommend playing the first Dishonored so you go into Dishonored 2 knowing exactly what's going on, since a lot of characters return from the original, and the game almost expects you to know who they are.

Yes. Play a few play throughs of the original, hopefully by the time you're done they'll have fixed the performance issues.

You can play the second episode without have played the first one because there is some kind of summery at the start of the game, but you will not be able to enjoy the game at 100%.
It's like if you start watching Harry Potter from the third film: you know it's a mage, you know he must kill Voldemort and save Hogwarts, but you don't know how he became the person he is and what exactly happened before.

Sure, but that's not why we're telling him to play the first one. We're telling him to play the first one because it's a fantastic game.

Well, i will be buying Dishonored 1 then. I have heard good things about that game. I just wanted to know the necessity of that.

This. It's like skipping the first Godfather movie. Yes you can skip it and maybe understand the second movie but you're missing out on a really good movie.

Well, i played Witcher 3 without playing it's prequels. But if you are comparing this with HP stories, then it's a must play.

The Witcher 3 is not as connected to The Witcher 2 as both Dishonored games are. Not even close.
