Dishonored 2 is a great game on it's own, but I really, REALLY recommend playing the first Dishonored so you go into Dishonored 2 knowing exactly what's going on, since a lot of characters return from the original, and the game almost expects you to know who they are.
It's like if you start watching Harry Potter from the third film: you know it's a mage, you know he must kill Voldemort and save Hogwarts, but you don't know how he became the person he is and what exactly happened before.
Sure, but that's not why we're telling him to play the first one. We're telling him to play the first one because it's a fantastic game.
Well, i played Witcher 3 without playing it's prequels. But if you are comparing this with HP stories, then it's a must play.
