Emily's Far Reach ability kind of sucks
Corvo's blink is 10x better. It's accurate, fast, and instantanious. Emily's feels a bit inaccurate, slow, and clunky, several times I've been running away from guards, and then tried to reach away to a rooftop, to have something block me from getting to the roof and cause me to fall. Never had that problem with blink. Am I doing something wrong, or does the power just suck? Anyone else agree? I really wanted to play as Emily, but I really miss blink.

How exactly is pull supposed to work? I've got the 'pull objects' upgrade and I was trying to grab a rune from the table, but all the time I had been pulled there instead. Am I missing something? Are runes not 'the objects'?

Damn, Daud's pull had been fun& obvious to use, why would they change it?

Because she isn't Daud. You just aim at the object you want to pull and it will be pulled to you. Make sure you are actually locked onto the item though and not the location. The indicator should get smaller when you locked onto an item.

Regarding pulling objects with Far Reach, you have to target the object. You'll get a rapidly spinning targeting circle that is the size of the object you're pulling. Don't forget to grab them, 'cause otherwise they can hit you in the face.

In other news, I have found a notable weakness in Far Reach, which is that it imparts enough momentum for you to bounce off walls if trying to get to small ledges. I was not amused the first time this killed me. Well, not until I thought about it for a few seconds. Hilarious way to die, really.

Well, I think I could eventually figure it out. Pulling those 'evil' runes from behind that preacher's back was fun. 8P

I'm playing with the gamepad, and to pull it's 'aim first and then briefly press the left trigger' (vs 'hold the left trigger and aim the landing spot' for the teleporting). Not very intuitive, imo, they should've specified that it's 'press', NOT 'hold'. Basically any extra moment on the LT may count as 'hold' & move Emily to the item.

Also, I don't think I saw any of the 'locking onto target' you've mentioned. Either because I've got the autoaim swithched off or because it's something K+M-specific (unless it's a bug).

Trellek said it was a spinning circle. Bit hard to notice but once you see what we mean it will become easier to know when you are locked on.

It's not supposed to give any momentum if you are crouching. So if you were standing and tried it, I could see that happening pretty easy. I say supposed to since I'm sure there are occurrences where it might bug, but normally if you want exact jumps you'd want to be crouching.

I'm not very far in the game yet but so far Emily's powers seem to be pretty good when you want to murder people in style, but for a low chaos / no kill playthrough Corvo seems way better.

I enjoy it because I can kind of slingshot myself with it. Moving forward and jumping when you far reach slings you forward past your mark and can really help with escapes.

From what I managed to do with Far Reach in this unoptimized state is Leap across long gaps by far reaching the streets and jumping straight after. What this does is pulls you ahead and leaps you over instead of pulling you down to the streets. Sort of like a olympian jump. Its skill wise is more difficult but more rewarding.

But then there are the extra upgrades for far reach that makes it that much better. Blink is classic and simple, but far reach gives advancements.

Exactly.

Wait, what? I don't think I was uncrouched for more than ten minutes my entire playthrough, and Far Reach always added momentum. Darned handy most of the time, like a longer range obstacle vault, but for climbing elevator shafts, with those little boxes along the walls, not so useful.

Anyway, the Slow Time upgrade for Far Reach is, bar none, just about the best thing ever. I vividly recall using Blink in the first game's Flooded District to try to get from somewhere up high to somewhere lower and, no matter how I lined up the Blink, the fall damage killed me. Slow Time undoes all that frustration. Trigger Far Reach six feet from the ground, jump to a nearby park bench, and suffer no fall damage at all. It's wonderful. Too, once you have the deeper upgrade tree cleared, it is entirely too fun to grab guards and bounce them off walls. And ceilings. If only it worked on witches I'd be in heaven.

Far Reach is the same a Blink except you cannot extend its range. It also has a couple neat new tricks. It is not bad, just different.

No, not really.
It's not as precise and it's clunky. Using it while in motion is a guaranteed to fling you in a way that you don't really want or need. Plus, withot appropriate charm it's possible for enemies to spot you while using it in contrast to blink that at no additional cost doesn't allow for enemies to spot you while blinking.

Yup, that sums up a few problems I have with far reach.
