in the elevator shaft, cut the elevator cables and you can drop down into the basement

Thanks! I have been looking all around the Institute, inside and out, for a way in for over an hour with no luck until I gave up and googled it.

That one stumped me good. I never solved one a lvl back where the rune or charm was under a building that a stream ran through. I'm guessing you would have to posess something.

There is actually a lot of enviromental damage you can cause, not just glass and boards like in the first game.

Both of these have me stumped. I felt really dumb when I looked up the one solution and was like 'oh you just... shoot the. board. um. okay' I keep forgetting all the ways we can affect the environment in this game.

I am playing as the male character so I do not have far reach. Blink doesn't seem to work. I gave up and took the boat back.

Can I get back there without a saved game file?

If I do go back, how can I get there without far reach?

I played as emily and without having the upgraded far reach I could not figure how to get down safely but by accident I disovered that you can perch on the boxes on the fall wall of the elevator shaft and zigzag your way down. To get back out all you have to do is get ontop of the elevator again and press the red button by the ground floor door for it to open.

If you dont have a save file from that mission I dont think you can go back to the mission.

Do you have to cut the cables? Would a grenade do the job?

This is true. I kinda smash everything because there have been a few occasions over both games where things have been hidden behind breakables. I remember in Dishonored there was a key hidden in a jar on a shelf.

This is the reason I also eat all the food - sometimes coins or other small objects are hiding underneath.

I should think so. I prefer a crossbow bolt or bullet, but if there are any guards left, the elevator falling is gonna make a racket anyway.
