That's because you're in the Void. Her painting = a mixture of the Void and the World, she was pretty damn powerful at the end. Her copies didn't exist in the World. She could speak THROUGH her statues, and they could be triggered by proximity but that's basic wizard stuff there.
If you look around, you can find a way to knock out Delilah in the end fight without even going near any of her copies. It's actually pretty obvious where she is too. Lemme know if you want the spoilers.

Yep. I used it when 3 copys where coming at me so I could knock all them at the same time
Also, when Delilah shows up after you've done them in, boy she's easy to kill with a single incindiary bolt.
