Mission 4 Rune at the back alley.

Im doing a sneeky playthrough and want to get the rune but i cant pull it to me and if i go there 5 bandits attack me (you know that one woman which asks you to help her)

anyone know how to get it without alerting them/triggering the event?

What powers do you have?

If you approach the alley from the back, or get around there from above, it's possible to knockout the two hiding behind the wall without alerting each other or the others. Only 3 to deal with then.

I went back there after completing the mission on my way back to the skiff and the alley was empty.

That's probably because the Witches attack everything except the innocent people. Go there before completing the mission, they'll be there.

It depends on which powers you have and what your goal is. I've sniped them from the roof of the shed, grenaded them, razor wired, stun mined, and sleep darted them on various playthroughs. You could also try the Howler darts or Howler bottles (if available).

There are even bottles nearby too (behind the two you can attack), and they have Howler Dust in them, so I've used that to my advantage as well.

I have almost no powers yet. only teleport and this shadow form.
Im saving my points till i reach a point where i really need a specific power to advance.
Im trying to play the game without killing someone and without being noticed by someone so a complete ghost playthrough.

Let's see, if you're doing ghost, the highest tier of your shadow form is imerative for that because you can fly through grates and that makes it eaiser to evade enemies. My personal favorite ability though, is Domino, because if you combine that with sleep darts you can take out almost any enemy. Also, as you probaly are already aware, when you fight clockwork soldiers, they don't count negatively on your kill count. So be aware of that. I usually go through the Clockwork Mansion without alerting Jindosh.

That particular alley is a tough one. If you're trying for ghost I can't help you but if you want to avoid most contact and still clear the area, you can shoot out the red restraining bolts on the wood cargo above the area, and it'll fall. They'll be distracted briefly.

lol, ty! I love using Domino and sleep darts, by far my favorite way to take out a bunch of enemies. Yeah, I had to take a couple of playthroughs to get through that area without being seen. I didn't know that about the box, but I can also tell you that there are some tripwires and traps back there as well, if no one has told you that yet. Don't just run in there blindly. Also, if the guy in the middle sees you, he'll call out for you to help him. However, the rules for being seen are a little wacky with him. if you walk right up to him, he'll call out and then if you keep getting closer, he sees you. However, if you get near him and he calls out for you but you don't get close to him, and shoot him and/or his buddies before it triggers, you're in the clear.

I know this is very old but I just started playing the game managed to never gey seen with dark sense to see where they where. Then using possession that I extended through leveling it and a 4 x slight increase possession time rune I made. Lead them into the blue building just before the alley and choked them out.

This section is tricky on a no powers run but it is very much possible to clear out the enemies without getting spotted and still pick up the rune.

I actually approached the back area by using the small alley on the other side of the station building and take out the 2 howlers waiting there. Then you can take out the others by seeing who isnt being seen and then go from there... its been a long time so I don't remember the finer details.

I used Domino and drop attack to render them unconscious. If someone heard something I'd just quickly try to get high ground and repeat. Took me several tries but it's doable with domino and far reach.

First 2 - domino + sleep dart. Second 3 - managed to do it with domino + sleep dart and one stun grenade cuz I couldn't link the 3rd guy because I had no good vision of him. On very hard difficulty.

to do it without powers - first you knock up the 2 guys waiting by the gate by going through the veg around the right side of the station, then you go inside the station and make noise so that the nonce hiding around the corner (to the left when you open the latched door) goes all the way around to the station alone, where you can knock him up unconscious, then you go back to the gate where the 2 guys were and you climb onto the post, and from there you jump up onto the wooden pillar holding up the railway, then you have to lean so that the guy at the far end of the alley in the niche will see and investigate you but without the red lightnings, he will approach the pillar's base where you can jump down and do an aerial knock up from were the woman won't see you, then you knock her up unconscious and that's done.

To get the rune with stealth, clean hands: ignore the alley Howlers behind the station. When you come back from the Clockwork Mansion with Sokolov, they will all be gone. The rune will still be there waiting for you.

If you want to pickpocket the money from the Howlers as well as see the note the center woman is carrying, you may need Domino x3 upgrade and instant sleep dart upgrade. Choke the two Howlers on the right side of the station building and place them in the smaller side alley just so they're temporarily out of view (remember to disarm the traps). Domino the center woman and the man waiting in the little nook between the station and a shed. Then, move to the balcony above the third man and drop down next to him beside the massive wooden wall. Miraculously, he won't see you if you lean over and domino him. Then initiate the instant sleep dart to sleep all three of them. It may take multiple tries depending on where the NPCs are looking at the time. Be sure to put all of the bodies into the nearby garbage bin.

If you leave any bodies on the rooftops, Delilah's witches will spot them when you leave the level.
