[Spoilers] What's up with the broken gazelle ornament ?
Hello guys ^^,

I 'm about to finish Chapter 8 and i was wondering what was the deal with that broken gazelle ornament.

I mean it's obvious that the Duke keeps it in his hidden vault because of its sentimental value, but is it really explained somewhere in the game why he became attached to it, or is it left to the imagination ? Or did I simply miss something lol

Also, i don't understand how Duke Abele can be something like a childhood friend for Delilah, considering she spent all of her early life at Dunwall whereas Luca was at Karnaca ...

Without spoiling too much (so you canwork it out later) the short of it is that it's linked to the death of the dukes brother.

As for the dukes relationship with delilah, I don't honestly know. Perhaps they met sometime after she stopped being sokolovs apprentice and before the events of the DH1 DLC, perhaps they helped each other out and developed a bond?
It's probably detailed somewhere else i havent looked much yet...

As a rich bastard he got to travel. If you pay a lot of attention to the discussions and books you can find, and particularly explore the Wale for all the notes and audiographs.

And as taco says. pretty much yes there are reasons.

Oddly when you do some of the stuff in different chaos levels, you'll hear some very interesting things from the Duke. He IS oddly sentimental, not just that item but people and such. However there's also a lot that leads you to speculate about many nastier aspects of his past. His mother's death, for instance...

Which person and which chaos level? I know that when you play high chaos Corvo you can also hear something really interesting about Jindosh. It explains why he was kicked out of the academy. And no, it's not the story about the machine that drinks sea water and makes such beautiful music that people cry. It's much, much worse than that.

Weird, I've done many Emily low chaos playthroughs and I never heard him say anything about his mother.

It's a book, found on the sea side of the mansion's garden area. Wher there's a lady reading, and a guy nearby. It relates how the duchess 'fell out of a window' to her death, which given how Luca behaves, it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if he'd had a hand in that.

If you do high chaos, the descriptions of some people as told by the Outsider are very, very different indeed. Also depending on what you're doing with Stilton, if he doesn't show up to the seance and is not dead, Luca's dialog is a bit different than even if he is dead. Very complex weave of available facts.
