Ah, you absolute legend, it friggin worked. Only had two stinging bolts, so I possessed the last hound, then waited till Delilah started her speech and boom (still weird though, because even when I tried with the hounds there, I was in an undetectable spot above the throne, as high as you can go?)
Padded back to the throne room, blinked to the closest chandelier and used the heart on her from there. She did her, "you've given me back my spirit" speech and asked me to follow her through the painting. I tossed the corrupted rune on the throne and followed her into the painting. Thus far, my stats say I have not been detected, but actually taking her out in any way inside the painting is proving to be some serious mess....
Here's a hint. That's not actually her on the throne once you are inside the painting.
