Does a first game save come into play at all?

So I just escape the tower and decided to put the game on hold until a patch comes out but I'm still just wondering if what you did in the first game actually means anything. The way Corvo just straight up murdered those guys in the intro leave me confused as to what the game thinks I did before.

First game save doesn't matter since you can't even use it, this is decided on depending on how you played on the escape mission (low or high chaos). And it only affect one guy's dialogue as far as I know.

Dishonored 2 doesn't look at any of your save files from the first Dishonored game. And Corvo might not canonically be a bloodthirsty maniac but it makes no sense for him to try and peacefully neutralize people who are trying to stab Emily. It's just a cutscene.

Unfortunately, it doesn't appear to read Dishonored's save data. By some miracle the world state in Dishonored 2 is actually (mostly) in sync with my recent Dishonored re-playthrough.
