Gameplay wise, there is no difference.
For Speedrunning, you'd choose Emily because it saves a few seconds due to slightly shorter cutscenes in a few places.
Generally, Emily is the better character, because the game is clearly showing her story, being able to play Corvo is more of a bonus, than a real alternative. The game even starts you as Emily in the intro cutscene, so then going for Corvo is kinda jarring as well.
It's more challenging either way, because there are a number of places that are considerably more difficult to reach without some form of teleportation or movement. There is ONE (at least one) bonecharm that you will not be able to get, the one on top of addermire. Aside from that I've seen videos of people doing no-powers runs that reach a surprising number of hard to get to places, but their dedication is way higher than mine was.
I'd suggest for a second run, as Sentox suggests, if you've done with one character, choose the other one for a switch - but also, choose the other Chaos level. If you ran high, try for low; if you went stealthy and nonlethal, try for full frontal assault mode. they're all very, very fun.
- Do High Chaos Runs with Corvo or Emily as 1st run
- Do Low Chaos with the one from the High Chaos on 2nd run
IMPORTANT: Remenber to break down every and i do mean EVERY Bonecharm you have to make runes
You should get +80 Runes on NG+ like that wich is a big buff for Low Chaos.
Make sure to find every Blueprint.
- On the 5th run (assuming your doing both Low and High Chaos for both Emily and Corvo)
do No Powers, this will start you with No Runes, and when you find them you will get money instead, wich youll need to bum-rush every possible upgrade to give you an Advantage in Combat or Stealth.
In this case you can forget about the Chaos System, just do what ya think is right or fun, since if you focus on Low you will have a hard time and if you focus on High you will eat through your money to get more ammo and bombs.
