Dishonored 2 won't start / doesn't launch
Well I bought the game couple of days ago, downloaded it through the night. First weird thing is, it seems it didn't installed it. On first launch of the game it should install everything needed, but it didn't.

When i try to start the game, the steam window pops up and says preparing to launch, then the window disappears and nothing more happens. I tried several things before I opened this topic.

- I have set the .exe to open up as administrator
- I verified the game cache files
- Tried to update my nvidia driver
- Restartet the pc
- Deleted the clientregistry.blob from steam
- Tried to start the game in a beta version from the option menu
- Installed DX and vcredist through the dishonored 2 folder in the steam folder

Nothing as worked so far. I opened up my taskmanager and was watching it when starting dishonored 2 on my second monitor. First it starts, it appears in my processes with like 14% cpu usage and it takes like 70mb of RAM but then nothing more. No continuing activity.

Sorry for this lecture, hoping i can get some answer here, because i cant find any solution on the internet.

Thanks in advance

Exactly the same I have. Did all of the first post, and additionally I have tried:

- Checked Eventlog: It never heard of Steam or Dishonored.
- Checked Steam Logs in .\Steam\logs. Nothing to see here.
- Starting Steam as Administrator
- Steam On- / Offline
- Cloud Sync On / Off (If Cloud is online, it goes and synchs. I never started the game, but I feel much safer now.)
- Starting Dishonored2.exe directly
- Starting game with +windowed
- Compatibility modes for Dishonored2.exe
- Added Dishonored2.exe to the Switchable High Performance setting
- Complete deinstall of steam and install in C:\Games
- Lowered monitor resolution
- Turned off second monitor
- Force upgraded Windows 10 to Anniversary edition
- Removed Gamepad
- Clean ATI driver deinstall
- Tried different ATI driver versions between 16.10.1 and 16.12.2
- Turned off background tasks
- Added folder to defender exclusion list
- Turned off firewall
- Restarted router
- Checked https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=6218-USFX-5568 multiple times.
- Worked through this https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=9828-SFLZ-9289
- Installed Ricochet (Year 2000) with 469 MB. Fast download. Starts just fine. Terrible graphics though.
- Deleted .dlls in Dishonored2 folder. Game protested.
- Gave everyone full rights on dishonored folder and verified inheritance. Maybe someone else can play it.

- Fingered the Refund option
- Wrote an abysmal review on MetaCritic
- Abondoning all hope (almost there).

Still refusing to download those 37 GB again. Waiting for patch.

Did a full redownload just for fun. As I expected, didn't help.

But, I did solve it! I can't believe it. This is the first game I had to do that:

Deactivate the Internal Graphics Card (e.g. in Device Manager.)

Game obviously doesn't care about Switchable Graphic Cards.

Wait what, it used your Intel GPU the first time?
Aetherion 6 ENE 2017 a las 3:14
It seems to always use the Intel GPU, unless I force deactivate it. Otherwise it probably decides, it will - without hesitation - refuse to run on this thing, way below min specs. But could at least says so. :steamfacepalm:

So, I have to set the desired resolution and monitor, turn off Intel GPU, and the games starts with this resolution (unchangeable). A bit annoying, but it otherwise works great now. :steamhappy:

On a side note, this is a great starting option to get rid of intro movies, game starts in a few seconds now:

I had the exact same problem and turning off the integrated graphics fixed it. I am hoping that will be fixed in the future
