Crashing for AMD R9 380 still not addressed; what's your experience?
So version 1.2 worked fine for me. Even though frames went from 20-90 fps, the game was stable and playable. I didn't try the 1.3 betapatch, but once 1.3 official came around, my game started crashing after just a few minutes of gameplay. I've seen complaints from many other users with the same card. The crashes are seemingly triggered by specific spots in the game and are particulary bad in The Grand Palace (the level is unplayable). I updated my gfx drivers and downloaded the latest betapatch, but it's still broken. Even tried starting a new file for good measure. I really wish I could rollback to 1.2 and just play the game (not like the updates solved any framerate drops). Is anyone else with the same card having better luck? Anyone with a different card having the same issues?

I have a R9 380 . And i want to backpatch to 1.2 too. After the download from the new beta patch, the game stutters in main menu like hell. Extreme framedrops from 50 to 1 like little freezes. I tried some workarounds, delete cfg, check the files, change language and set the grapics to 30fps without vsynch and it runs for an hour before it crashes again. Now its just the same like before with 1.3 . Sometimes it crashes after seconds in game, sometimes after 5 minutes. It runs like ♥♥♥♥, like a burning Schnitzel;) And i think that this game is impossible to run on the minimum specs:steamfacepalm:

This newest patch has made the game unplayable for me. I have a radeon r9 290x [i7 4790k] and the game was running just fine up until this most recent patch. Now within about 15 seconds of my game it crashes to desktop every single time. I can sit in the menu fine but when I load my campaign saves (any of them) it'll crash within a few seconds. I've tried verifying local files and opting out of and back into the beta selection but the problem persists. I haven't tried starting a new game yet so I'm not sure if that'll work but I'd like to be able to play where I left off at. Any advice?

I should mention I'm using the newest radeon drivers 16.12.1 but there is a sticky post about the newest patch and they are saying use the drivers version 16.11.4 maybe I'll try rolling back, does anybody know if this will work before I do it?

EDIT: Weird thing- so I restarted my computer and now the game is running normal and no longer crashing. Wow I feel dumb if a computer restart after updating the game is the solution.

From what I've seen other users say, rolling back your graphics drivers probably won't help you. I tried playing before and after updating to the latest AMD driver and was crashing either way. I tried deleting the config file and verifying the cache but also didn't have any luck. Whatever the issue is, I think it's on Arkane's end and not AMD's. Strange that its mostly affecting the r9 series though.

I can confirm this. I run a r9 380 and on the Grand palace level (part 2) the game just CTDs randomly. The shortest crash occurred after 5 seconds and longest I've been able to play was 5 minutes. I've logged in like 40 hours and now I can't play this game, which feels just great.

I have tried everything* but the driver rollback, but as I first used the older drivers as the problem occurred, updating the drivers did not help. Problems started with patch 1.3 and on release to 1.2 the game was kind of playable, if you just waited for the stutters to pass. Now whenever the game would start to stutter (like before) the game just CTDs.

* For example: CFG-deleting, updating drivers, verifying game cache, waiting for 1.4 after 1.3, trying different settings on the graphics options, lowering my desktop resolution to 800x600 as some russian guy did (did improve the framerate for me, but still CTDs). If there is a way to make the game work on r9 380 other than these, I am interested.

I played the game on release with no issues. I completed it once and really enjoyed it. Experienced two crashes total, once in stilton's manor and once at the grand palace. I ran the graphics higher than the auto settings but I still had no problems.

However, my girlfriend (who has been waiting to play this game sense release) has been trying to get her playthrough started for three days now. We stopped trying when we saw that people were also experiencing CTDs with 1.3, so we were just going to hold out until 1.4. Tonight was set to be great when we saw the beta patch was released, and we immediately opted in and game the game a shot. Instatly experiencing the same problems as 1.3, despite one of the fixes being listed as "various crashes to desktop". Obviously, that's not true in our case. I also have an R9 380. Seriously curious as to what is going on. Will be monitoring this thread and forum for any fixes people may have, I've tried everything that I could find, like verifying the game cache, reinstalling, changing my drivers, deleting CFG, and rolling the graphics up and down in all sorts of ways. Typical time before a crash is two minutes, and I've been using her file and just strolling around the first karnaca harbor that you're brought to, with the two whale carcasses.

So r9 380 users still getting ctd then? ffs. Is it really that hard to let us have an option to use a working patch 1.2.

They must fix this before this patch goes out of beta. It's unacceptable.:steamfacepalm::steamfacepalm:

It baffles me that they let crashing issues this severe slip through the 1.3 betapatch, when there was no issue before. Are they just not bothering to test the game on AMD cards?

Yeah but the r9 380 in particular has been reported by like crap loads of people, I've only seen a couple of people report with nvidia

r9 380 as well, constant CTD, really looking for a fix soon
Sobric Dec 16, 2016 @ 2:42am
Just to add to this, R9 380 user here as well and have the exact same problem. 1.3 patch causes constant crashes, was working fine before the patch.

Rolling back to the recommended AMD drivers makes no difference.

Same, and the new beta patch doesn't do ♥♥♥♥ for it. >_< Fek, Watch Dogs 2 does SO much more and is stable... and this piece of ♥♥♥♥ can't handle single player at low settings. ♥♥♥♥ me for not waiting for the GOTY edition... on sale.

At this point it more a case of is anyone with a r9 380 able to play for a long time on 1.3 or after without ctd. Had to be my gpu that gets this problem, fking typical.

If it weren't our card... we wouldn't be looking for solutions and finding others in the same boat. We'd just be playing and blithely ignorant to the suffering of others. Much like bethesda's support team. (badump-tish)

I feel i've been legally robbed. Haven't been able to play since patch 1.2, and then it was a choppy mess but didn't crash. Getting on a while now since i purchased the game. R9 380 4gb
