MISSION 8 black market bug???

Yeah I have the same problem, I've got the passcode but the shopkeeper doesn't respond.

For whatever reason when i loot the key from the backdoor courier a short while later the black market guy blows himself up. Maybe thats what is happening for you to as well

Edited to add: I figured out what it was. For whatever reason he stumbled into some howler dust and it blew him up. The only way i could fix it was to get to the front of the shop before it happened and stand in front of his counter. it still blew up, but he didn't get knocked out.

Thank You! I'm doing a non-lethal, no detection playthrough, and the shopkeeper blowing himself up right after the conversation with the backdoor courier from the boat kept adding a kill to my total. I'm assuming this is a bug, and I hope they fix it. Very frustrating.

Strangely, I'm pretty sure the same thing didn't happen on my lethal playthrough. I got the code and choked out the black market shop keep to rob him.

And now I'm ready to rob the market then move on to the palace, and the shopkeeper is unresponsive. Can't use the wine-better-than-prisons pass phrase, or buy anything from him out front in the actual shop. Very frustrating indeed. At least I got my rob all the black markets achievement on my first playthrough.

Cant buy anything out front and the pass code doesnt work out back. Shopkeeper is just standing there looking at the back of his shop.

I took out all the howlers out front before they had a chance to attack his shop. Think that matters?

@Toxic, the original audio is in the boat where the guys are talking early on. If you do it right you can actually get the key from the boat's owner (who is talking to the shop) and go back to get it, but if you don't see it there in the boat, it is up where the guards have confiscated it in another part of the level. The recording is essential, either location.

I figure a way of dealing with the unresponsive shopkeeper as Emily. Go to the front, use the Far Reach hability to pull him against the window. He will duck and assume the fear position for a while. When he gets up, he will move a little bit farther from the window. Do it as many times as you need, to get him near the back door. Go to the back alley when he is still ducked and trigger the passcode on the door.

Thanks for the tip. I ended up using Howler bolts on him via the back window. After about 3, he resets his position and opens the store again.

I know this is old but I found a way to make it work. I choked out the female boat captain behind the shop. Then I just kept saying the password at the backdoor again and again. Eventually it made the shop keeper reset and he responded to me and opened the backdoor. I suggest you purchase any blueprint upgrades from the front BEFORE going in the back to rob him.

Well I have the problem there's a howler robber in the front of the shop (can't find any help about that online) and he attacks when I unlock the door to the shop with the key. So of course the owner shuts up shop and I can't buy. This is my second playthrough and it didn't happen the first time. I've loaded a previous save (am playing atm and trying to resolve this) but I can still see the robber and it doesn't make a scrap of diff when I walk in from the front. Grrr... and I want to upgrade stuff before I hit Duke Abele :(

If you've fought with the Howlers, OR robbed prior shops (? someone should check on that) there will be some howlers waiting for you. You can deal with them and then remove them from the shop keeper's sight, eventually like all the other characters who react, he'll go back to work. He should anyway.
