I personally loved the troubadour songs. I enjoy the instrumentals of each song. I do agree the voice contrast can be a bit weird, but I liked it nonetheless. What I loved the most about those songs though is how much more character they give to the setting. Like I play the game over and over and it feels so alive. Seeing the people sing in the streets just gives the city much more life.
I listen to both soundtracks on Spotify, personally.
Rest in peace Dan... thanks for the brilliant soundtracks.
Will any of his works be in DotO?
The music in D2 was far, far better than D1's, just overall for mood and location-style. But all of it was still very good.
I agree that the singers were a little wonky? But then again the music that is played by the 'musicians' in the Duke's palace is... really awful lol. There's more feeling to the singers and their folk songs and it made me think how they've described Serkonos as being where suggestive dances and spicy food comes from in the Empire :) They contrast with the stiff, stuffy type that might be heard in the northern isles.
Definitely hoping that his works were in DotO, there was no word about that in prior information I don't think? I hope so.
/Salute, wonderful composer and brilliant musician.
I'd have to say that "honor for all" is one of my favorite game-related tracks of all time.
Well, that is true for sure. I liked the troubadour songs more when they appeared in the game, but the one during the end credits didn't feel as much like a reward as Honor for All. However, it was certainly refreshing to have some source music as well, and I cannot argue that those songs wouldn't have been good in their context.
