Dishonored: The Unkown Woman
Hello everyone
I was reading Dishonored: the dunwall archives, and was looking at a timeline. I was searching for the 9 with the outsiders mark. Suddenly, I saw this:
Unknown woman is marked by the outsider (1803) mentioned in her sons journal.
Who the hell is the unknown woman? Its not delilah or granny rags, both are answered somewhere else. I dont know what this person could be, ive never heard of her before.

Why she's referred to as unknown. That's all we know of her. She is not mentioned anywhere else.

The Outsider says that only 8 people have the mark *at the time* (that was pre-D2) so there are actually still some unaccounted for. I doubt we'll ever know who they all are / were.

If we don't know about 3 people with the mark, then this just gives Dishonored room for more games. Well played, Bethesda, well played.

I thought the Outsider told Daud that there are only eight people bearing his mark?

Yes, but that was before Emily joined.

What about the hand that Paolo have been using? Does that count as a deduction?

That was Granny Rags' hand. That's why the bar he owns is "The Crone's Hand". :)

And canon wise, Corvo *loses* the mark, and Emily gains it - so the number would remain the same.

Corvo OR Emily
Granny Rags
Daud
Delilah
Lonely Rat Boy (only found in the trailer for the first game)
Unnamed Woman (only mentioned in the book found in D2)

Granny Rags was the torturer's mentor in D1, and had passed her power to him in some way similar to Daud and Delilah giving their minions power.

But at least one of those marked is dead *before* dishonored 1 starts, and Granny is canon dead as well as the unnamed woman in D2. Delilah I would suppose still counts as being marked, though we don't SEE a mark on her - and by the time she's back in play she might not even need it.

That was actually Granny Rags hand, wasn't it? So Paolo didn't have the mark.

But Delilah does have the mark, she even says so I think.
Thanks for correcting me on the Corvo/Emily thing
So we're stuck at 6. 5 we know, 1 is unknown but known, and 2 are 100% unknown. I hope we get to see the 3 unknowns in another Dishonored.

In her taunts to Daud in Brigmore Witches (along the lines of all the Marked, she would be the only one remembered by history) and her comments to the player character in Dishonored 2 she says she's Marked. We don't see Granny Rags mark either with her fingerless gloves.

We don't see G-Rags' mark, but she IS marked. Have you not noticed the rats, the runes she makes for you? http://dishonored.wikia.com/wiki/Vera_Moray There, it says she's marked.

Unless I was completely misunderstanding a post above me, someone was saying that he/she was not sure if Delilah was Marked because we don't see it. I was giving Granny Rags as an example of just because we don't see her mark, doesn't mean it isn't there.

Corvo in the first game is the only one that really runs around with his Mark exposed. Others that we see (Granny Rags, Daud) keep their mark covered.

Oh I'm sorry, I misunderstood.

The clue is in the question - Unknown kinda means, Unknown (well, for now anyways lol)

I thought maybe someone knew something about her, maybe a theory, but I guess she really is unknown. I hope we get to meet her sometime

I think she was dead, though, if I'm thinking of the passage in a book you read hidden somewhere?

And yeah I know Delilah was marked, and says so (in that oh-so-arrogant way), but I don't know that she counts as marked *after* returning to the World. She's more in control of the magic, and honestly would the Outsider have allowed her to keep it if he didn't have to?

Like, "oh hold still dear Outsider, and let me paint with your blood. You seem to like that."
