Episode 08 Vault Key Bug

Twice now I've had issue with the vault key. The vault key appears on the Duke, and I pick it up. However, when I make it to the vault door. I go to use the key, and nothing, check inventory, and it's not there. I double, tripple, quadrouple check where I killed the duke, it's not there. On my first run-through I reloaded the save after a day, tried the vault and it opened. No luck so far with New Game +.

I've wasted substantial time in this level (twice in a row now) because of this bug.

Sorry i can't help with the bug, but there is another way into the vault without using the key.

Are you positive it's not the double's chest key? They both carry keys. But yeah there's another way in, so I'd say try that just to finish it up?

I am absolutely positive in each case that it was not the key belonging to the double. When I picked it up, it said, "vault key". And in both games, I've dealt with both the double and the duke.

What is this other way into the Vault without the key? I can get to either vault door, but not inside (that I'm aware of).

I'm really sorry, my memory might have failed me. I was thinking about the pantry secret passage, but you need the key to get into the vault from that opposite side as well?

I've played the game 5 times now, would have thought i could remember that by now :S

Have you done the normal file verification and restart steam? It does seem a little weird, I've gone through 5 times and had no trouble with it, myself, but obviously it's broken for you. Save often and reload?

Have you tried going the non-lethal route Modus? In case that spawns the key in a more reliable state?
