Pick your favorite character.
Their ability really doesn't matter.

Don't worry the compaign won't change. You know, like father like daughter. The two character even say the same words in game.

If you are new to DS, either character will be fine.

Neither? They have different powers but they don't encourage or discourage more stealth.

Well I remember Arkane has recommended players to use Emily to play through the game

It's obviously written to be Emily's story, but there is no reason not to play Corvo if you prefer. If anything, play the game through once with each. The point of the game design is to replay it.

emily will encourage more stealth because most of her skills can be used stealthly
if you say corvo wind blast, devouring swarm can kill but wind blast only if you get greater windblast but still makes alot of noise.
emily is best for stealth and quick playthroughs, corvo is best for a very lethal and loud playthrough you can stealth with him but you can;t use 2 skills
let me list out the skills for emily and corvo
corvo:
1:blink (not as good as emily as it doesn't reach as far without the upgrade but good for stealth and chooseing where to blink because the guards cannot see you when blinking and haveing redirective blink will slow down time fully and you can choose to blink where you want to when near gaurds but do not move)
2:devouring swarm (very lethal skill but can be peared with possesion but you have to kill the 90% of the rats before useing possesion)
3:windblast (very loud skill but cannot kill if you get greater wind blast)
4:possesion ( stealth skill you can posses a guard ect and lead them to a safe place and choke them or collect items and notes without being seem) you can get a black bone charm that allows you to run
5:dark vision (shared) (good for stealth, able to see items and where are enimies going to be when walking aka enimie)
emily:
1:far reach (very good for momentum and how far it can reach than blink but guards can see you when far reaching unlink blink)
2:shadow walk (very good for stealth playthroughs because it is harder for guards to see you and you can kill up to 3 with it fully upgraded but the downside is that you cannot jump)
3:domino (excellent for stealth and lethel play throughs when you fully upgrade it you can link 4 people and you can choke one out or kill him or her, then the rest of the 3 will die or be sleeing can be peared well with doppleganger but if you don't link them propely or you don't see lines connecting to each other you do it because there will be no effect)
4:doppleganger (good for lethel and non lethel because you can combo it with domino (link the doppleganger then link the other 3 people then choke or kill the doppleganger)

This is all based on stealth stuff not lethel
soo to say emily is best for stealth and momentum
and corvo is best for killing people and haveing fun aswell

It would however be a service towards themselves, if a person were to limit themselves to each characters skill set once each. The true experience of the game is thinking differently with each skill set, also makes it more fun to mix it up a third time.

i have done that. It was fun but it told me how to play them differently and how to use their skills
when i did my ng+. when i got all the runes and bonecharms for emily then i started ng+, after starting ng+ i continued to get all the runes soo i can expirence loadouts with their skills mix thoghter

When they revealed that Emily Kaldwin will be the 'main' character of the game I was kinda disappointed.
After I played the game, to my surprise, I like Emily better.
She's more of a cold-blooded killer bent on revenge type than the royal-reasonable-protector Corvo and I think she fits the story and the setting much better. Moreover, her voiceact seems to be much better imo.
I also like her skills more - even if they're less powerful than Corvo's - they're much more fun to use (shadowgrip assasination ftw!).

I decided to play Corvo. I am at the start of level 9. So far I have ghosted and managed non leathal on all levels. But its been a tough one to do. I will play Emily next.

It could also be interesting to play again without any outsider powers.

You are aware the game tailors the character towards your play style right? For those of us that played low chaos she never expressed anything but a wish for restraint in her own approach.
